And? Do you mean that you sometimes get it in and turn the key and sometimes you stay in your house and look at it through the window? Give us something to work with.

Are the spark plugs and wires original ?
if so replace them, or test spark plugs and wires and clean and set spark plugs.
Try using a fuel cleaner as well .
Check air filter change if dirty.
Changing oil will help as well including a better brand of oil such as Castrol GTX high mileage

1989 jeep wrangler starts jumping and backfiring

Start with the basics...meaning check the spark plug wires and spark plugs. While under the hood, inspect all hoses for a vacuum leak(s). Then turn the ignition key on-off-on-off- on...leave in the on position and write down the number of flashes the check engine light indicates....2 flashes = #2....pause.....3 flashes = #3.
Let start from here. Are you able to perform engine repairs or diagnostics???

1989 jeep cherokee will not start. Engine turns over, has brand new starter, distributer, coil, and crank sensor. Is it the ignition controll module?

A computer analysis will tell you a lot about your jeep. The diagnostic device is sometimes portable, see if you can get a mechanic to come over and test your jeep. It wlll cost a bit, but then you will know what your problems are.

89 Jeep Wrangler when I accelerate it hesitate slow down its fine, accelerate it hesitate, and sometimes it will ****

Start by checking the choke. While the hood is up reach in to the carb and give it the gas.If the choke is normal then check your distributor cap for cracks(especially hairline ones, then check your rotor etc.
Best of luck
