Fuel pump had to be replaced at 46,000 miles. One of the fixed hoses was spraying gas under the car. Mechanic said that whole pump had to be replaced. After market parts sites cheaper than dealer.

2008 chevy cobalt has trouble starting and has a strong fuel smell

If the fuel system is dumping too much fuel into the cylinders, the check engine light should be on and you should be able to get trouble codes from the computer. The codes would point you in the direction of the problem.
Is the light on ?

Strong gas smell coming from my cobalt at all times

Look in the back of the car. The fuel pump lines like to break. You will not be able to see them, but you will smell and see that the fuel tank is wet. Call your local dealership, have you vin # and milage, ask them if it's covered by warrenty.

I have a 2006 chev. cobalt and i have a really bad thing going on with my car. After i drive my car down the street and back and then turn it off. I can smell gas coming from my car. What is going on with...

Get it check or check it yourself, sounds as through you have a fuel leak somewhere. If you can smell it chances are great that you can see it as well. Look under the vehicle as well as in the engine compartment, look for wet spots this should indicate were the problems is.

Strong fuel smell around vehicle jacked vehicle

I have the exact same problem with my 2006 chevy cobalt right now. That's why I am searching this. I had a mechanic friend look at it and it's the fuel pump and the lines are cracked to. Has anyone heard of a recall on this? It can't be a coincidence that we are having the same issue.
