1999 kia sephia. when i put the car in reverse it feels like it is reverse and forward when i try to accelerate. it will back up if i just idle

if it starts and runs wont be
timing marks or crank angle sensor
or coils

any engine check light on ?
could be the air idle sensor
egr
fuel pump pressure to the rail

change plugs and wires my kia had slow acceleration like loss off power thought it was clutch new plugs and wires solved this also us brake cleaner on cable for throttle

This starter changes just like most starter. 3 bolts and remove the wiring. Make sure to disconnect the battery first before starting the repair. It is pretty straight forward with any starter removal. Here is an excerpt from someone who made the same repair
"I removed the Air Intake tube. I also removed the battery and put it on
the side! One the right side of the engine, from above I was able to
remove 2 of the bolts holding on the starter. I then jacked up the car
and was able, with considerable gymnastics, to remove the bottom bolt.
Point - Only use a 14mm wrench or socket. From back on top, I was able
to slide the starter to the right and remove the power cable and the
solanoid cable. Down at the NAPA Store in my town, they put the old
starter on the bench and it failed 5 out of the 6 tests! I picked up a
new one - minus the $60 core charge, for $105 with tax, put it in and
the car starts like a dream. Total time for this amatuer; 3 hours."

some cars dont adapt well to cold air intakes. try putting your old system back on.

If there is a access panel under the seat ,then u replace the pump through that, when u remove the pump and replace it with the new one BE CAREFUL NOT TO BEND THE GAUGE FLOAT ROD if u do your fuel gauge will be wrong. you have to lift and then turn at a angle and reverse to put the new pump in.

make sure that your clean air intake is all hooked up correctly this is a common problem because when the mass air flow sensor detects too much or too little air it will try to die or idle rocky also if it is correct look to make sure the air filter is clean if not then replace it.
