1997 ford thunderbird lx v8 4.6 Brake pedal is vibrating with car ignition turned off and key out. When brake pedal is pushed down, pedal vibrates and a engine noise is on as if there was a fan on. Never encountered a problem like this before, as a matter of fact, just received a ok for state inspections just yesterday. Please help.

Had to press ******* brake petal to shift out of park...what's failing now?

That's the way it was made, requiring the driver to hold the brake pedal down before putting it in gear. It's a safety device. Have to look further to see about your cruise control.

!997 Ford Thuderbird brake lights and hazards do not work

Lets start at the beginning.
The turn signals and brake lights use different fuses but both go thru the turn signal switch and use the same bulbs.
Have you checked the fuses for each circuit and does each switch have power in and out ?

In bleeding brakes on my 97 T-bird does the engine need to be on or only the ignition..??

Hi:
The engine doesn't need to be on, but since your car most likely has power brakes, the engine being on would make it easier to bleed, since the pedal would push easier!

Vibration in reverse

Unfortunately, your probably looking at serious automatic trans problems. What I would do is change the transmission oil and filter. When the pan is off, you can check for clues like oil condition (if it smells burnt or is black or brown; indicates burnt/worn cluch friction disks/steels), metal filings/fragments in the pan or the filter (indicates mechanical damage), etc. I can help through all these steps. Basicly checking these things are your best indicator of transmission condition short of putting a pressure guage on it and doing road/pressure tests. While under it check shifter linkage by having someone shift through the gears with the engine off while you inspect the linkage. Be sure to block the tires good, set the e brake, because when they take it out of park it could potentially roll and KILL or injure you. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem. You may already know you can turn the steering wheel until it disengages.
