Question about 1994 Chevrolet Camaro

'94 Camaro Over Heating

Tried everything fan runs when it gets hot, replaced thermostat, I even have left it out and then it runs fine. Im guessing it is either losing its vacume through a pin hole somewhere. Im stumpped, when it gets hot it pushes the extra into the overflow tank and then insted of going back into the radiator it just stays in the overflow tank.

Possible problems; water pump, impellers may deteriorate and therefore have low circulation.. Clogged passages, and even the mixture of the coolant.

It may be a simple case of still having air pockets in the cooling system. If this is not the case, i would lean towards to a cylinder leak down test to determine/confirm a head gasket leak.

Did you burp the air out of the cooling system? That needs to be done if you haven't - air will trap the thermostat and keep it from opening. Check my tips and tricks for how to do this.

There is an inlet and outlet rubber hose going to your heater core. At operating temp the 2 hoses should be the same hot temp, if not, swap them making the inlet the outlet vise/versa and see if it makes a difference. Run vehicle like that a few days and this will make sure the core is unplugged. If this does not work there is a thermal relay in the blower compartment that may be faulty. To get at that you pull out the fan blower under dash and it will be right next to it. You may need to access the mounting screws for it through the hood and air sytem filter. I will put my money on a plugged core, even though it was flushed!!

Can't figure why running hot

Sounds like a bad thermostat, Transmission cooler never should have been installed as that has nothing to do with heating and cooling of the motor.

Next check to see if the electric fans are turning on. If it get hot at low speeds its probably due to the fan not coming on and using the A/C heavily.
