Check your battery connections, connections at alt. If those are O.K. I would go ahead and pull the alt and battery and have them tested also. Oh, one more thing that I just thought of, it could be that when your key ring gets to swinging, it could be trying to turn the switch off- happened to me!

Why is the engine light not only on, but flashing on my 2ltr petrol 2001 vw beetle, and the car is jolting even when idle (feels like it will stall), and it stinks like a firework???

Your light is flashing because it is telling you it needs attention right away. Get the codes pulled and fix the problem. Sounds like a emissions. Sensor problem or a blocked up catalytic converter.

Car jolts when accelerating

HAVE YOU THE SOLUTION TO YOUR PROBLEM? I FEEL I HAVE A VERY SIMILAR PROBLEM. WHEN I PUSH THE ACCELERATOR FULL THROTTLE, WHEN THE 3 GEAR PASS TO 4 GEAR I HAVE A VIOLENTLY KICK. BUT IF I DON`T PUSH FULL THROTTLE THE TRANSMISSION FEELS GOOD. IF YOU HAVE A SOLUTION PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I ALL READY CHANGE THE VALVE BODY, ALSO I TRY WITH AN OTHER COMPLETE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE PROBLEM IS THE SAME.

Emissions light sensor coming on and some days the subaru loses power and feels like she is having trouble getting into gears but she is auto.

Hi natalie5476,

There are several problems with this picture. First, it is posted under "Chevrolet Cars & Trucks" while you clearly state in your question that you are talking about a Subaru.

Then there is the question of replacing a "Fuse"??? What fuse would you replace when the light is obviously receiving power from the battery?
It sounds to me like you are taking your vehicle to a "mechanic" that knows less about the car and how it is supposed to work, than you do.

I would recommend trying again by taking it to an automotive repair technician that is properly trained and has the correct equipment to diagnose and repair your vehicle.

When i put down the throtle the motor jolts like the hole van jolts unles i put the throtle down more it smoother it self out again but when i take it off again it jolts again pritty bad as well its just...

Replace the throttle position sensor . The engine computer is switching the injectors on and off , hence the jolting effect . The throttle position sensor is giving false information to the computer . Replacing the throttle position sensor will probably solve your problem .

95 mercury villager v.6 jolts when entering first

you need to disconnect the battery for 2 hours to clear the computer memory so it can relearn the new engine.
Also, adjust the TP, throttle position sensor with volt meter or ohm meter. clean MAF sesnor with carb cleaner.

Jolting and throttle problems

what size engine? 2.4?... 2.7?... 3.5? each one has a different fuel delivery system. Was there a Check Engine Light when this happens? Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' (Service Engine Soon) light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on.
You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE the problem and perhaps eventually fix the problem.

1999 Mercury Cougar has problems starting

I would check all of the connections to and from the alternator and starter, plus the grounds, they could be corroded or have weak connection, as far as no power going up a hill, check the map sensor

Jolting when car shifts with new air filter installed

I take it this is an automatic?
Try disconnecting the negative terminal to the battery for 10 mins. Then connect it and idle the car for 10 mins, then drive it LIGHTLY for another 10 or so.
Disconnecting the negative terminal will cut power to the ECU and it will have to relearn values. Many tuners, when they install mods such as intake, exhaust, headers, etc get their cars ECU to relearn the fuel trims, etc.
