Question about 2000 Hyundai Sonata

1 Answer

Car issues hello, the problem i`m having is with my 2000 Hyundai Sonata V-4, when i actually drive my car it will run fine for about an hour or so with the RPM gage not moving an inch, and when i park it for about an hour or so, and go to start the car again, it will barely have no power, and when i go to give the car more gas i give the engine just revs, and it seems that my transmission will be stuck in one gear. I`m not That good with cars but am sorta comfortable around them as far as what fluids go where, so i keep a close eye on that, and i already know that i need a new alternator belt, and i think a hose for my power steering or another cable for that part. I was just wondering would the sub frame that had been recalled be the reason? Arg! so frustrated! If anyone has any ideas, i`m open to all opinions

Can't see that the sub frame would have anything to do with it at all. Have you ever changed the trans fluid and filter, might be a good place to start.

Firing Order for a 2002 Hyundai Sonata

Since the 4 cyl engine uses direct ignition, here is the info for the V6.
Standing in front of the car, the cylinders in front are 2-4-6 and the cylinders next to the firewall are 1-3-5.
The wires on the coil are 1-4-5-2-3-6. The actual firing order is 123456.

Timing belt replacement interval

My rule of thumb for Timing belts:
replace at 60,000 miles, and every 40,000 miles thereafter. Having said that, I often let
cars go until the timing belt starts showing signs of wear (usually every 50K - 75K miles)

But www.autozone.com (register free at www.autozone.com) is recommending for your
car driving in "severe driving conditions" (aka normal stop-start driving) that your 2000 Sonata
have:
60,000 miles - replace
90,000 miles - inspect for wear
120,000 miles - replace
150,000 miles - inspect for wear

The 155 page owners manual (I found one at the link below - you may prefer to try Hyundai)
makes no mention of the timing belt at all.

Check engine light stays on.

You've made the correct decision. Let the dealership diagnose the issue. They'll tell you EXACTLY what the problem is and what's needed to fix it (parts, labor, tax, time-frame, etc.).

What is size of replacement battery for 2000 sonata v6?

Size 75 was the standard battery many of the newer size 75's are actually stronger than the old 78's, so you can probably get away with a 75 which is a little smaller and lighter.
