Question about Hyundai Motor 2004 Sonata

1 Answer

2004 Hyundai Sonata door lock functions inoperable.

2004 Hyundai Sonata doors will not lock from the keyless remote, the key in either door will only lock the door the key is in, not all doors as designed. Central locking switch on driver's door will unlock all doors, lock none. All unlock functions work fine. Fuse is OK. Battery in keyless remote is good. When unlocking I can hear at least 2 relays clicking behind fuse panel, trying to lock can only faintly hear 1 relay. W/ a wiring diagram, I could fix it, I'm certain.

I have similar problem. Where those relays are located? My Sonata is 2007 and my mechanic located one white relay. He take it out and I can still hear one relay clicking. That clicking is when you open the driver door when the key is in the ignition. Computer showed : open, close, open, close , open. Is there two or more relays?

How to Program Keyless Entry Remotes in a Hyundai Sonata By Christian Killian, eHow Contributor
20Found This Helpful The keyless entry system in your Hyundai Sonata is part of the factory alarm system. If you have to replace a lost or damaged remote, reprogramming will be necessary. The remote is important because not only does it lock and unlock the doors, it also arms and disarms that factory alarm when you open or close your car doors. New remotes are available from any Hyundai dealer. While they will program it for you, you can do it yourself and save a programming fee.

Step 1: Locate the fuse panel under the dash on the driver's side of the car. Just below it is the control module for the factory alarm system. Open the cover on the alarm system control module and locate the memory switch inside.

Why does my Keyless entry not open door or allow me to crank my car.?

It's more than likely a dead battery in the remote and/or the vehicle. The theft system may need to be reset/reprogrammed.
Another way to try to bypass it is to unlock the front doors manually with the key; that sometimes allows the car to start if it's in protect mode.

Yep... more information!.. same behavior when keyless remote is used?... IF SO, then you have a bad relay - door 'LOCK' relay.

2004 Hyundai Accent door locks

Since the 3 other doors respond to your keyless remote, this points to a failure in the door's power lock motor.

Repairing this yourself can be done, given that you are able to access the part itself, and can diagnose servo/motor failures.

You must take great care in removing the door panelling. This is often attached to the metal frame via plastic pegs that can break when removed forcefully. You can ease them out with the help of a flat(blade) screwdriver. Start from the part with the smallest sq.area and work your way down.

Hyundai often places plastic caps to cover screw heads, so look for these to completely remove the door panel.

If you find this too tedious to accomplish, it is best seek assistance of a qualified technician.

Hope this helps.
