The starters today are what they call low gear reduction, permanent magnet starters, and they do that a lot.Tap on the starter, but not to hard,as some one trys to start it.If it starts, replace the starter.Check the battery and see if it is good.Might have to have it checked to se if it is good at a parts store.Have it load tested.Check the battery connections to see if they are back(.After you remove the cables from vehicle). Also if they are nasty with acid build up.If they are ,clean them(cable ends, and post on battery)until they are shinny .These are things to check, get back with me if you can and let me know how you come out.roniecon@gmail.com

If its the 3.0 diesel take off the + leads from the batterys ,jack up and support the front of the car, high as you can go is best then take off the clutch slave (if its a manual) undo the two bolts holding the starter on and the wires on the solenoid and out it comes .
You may find it helps to take off the dipstick tube at the sump too cos it makes the job easier .

How do I change a starter?

Removing the front exhaust pipe from the engine will give you the necessary space to replace the starter motor on your Isuzu Trooper.

Where is the starter located in a 1995 isuzu trooper?

The starter is on the drivers side of the 3.2 engine you will have to remove the cross over exhaust pipe to get at it.

Need to replace starter

I recommend you get the Haynes repair manual on your vehicle. Start by removing the negative battery terminal, then removing the retaining bolts from the starter followed by removing the wires from the starter. Reverse the process to put the new starter on.

Replacement of starter on 1994 isuzu trooper

Remove the positive battery cable first.
The starter is on the passenger side of the engine. Might be easier to get to from below. Remove the bolts holding the wiring to it than the bolts that mount the starter in place.
Be careful if it has shims that you make sure you put them back in the same way. (These are little thin spacers that go between the mounting surface and the starter).
Installation is reverse. Probably would take you no more than 30 minutes to do it all.

1992 Izusu Trooper 3.2 Starting problem

Hi,

starter solenoid is getting hot and sticking. you can replacae the solenoid rather than the whole starter. while youre at it, clean all the wire connectors and terminals with some sandpaper to ensure the best possible connection and transfer of energy.
Is it an automatic transmission?
Automatics regularly suffer this way. The starter is right next to the exhaust manifold. When the solenoid gets too hot, it takes a lot of "juice" to build up the same level of magnetism. Your wimpy wiring from the dash board can't provide what you need. You need to provide more amperage by installing a relay to directly pull power from the battery. See this thread for a diagram.
