Question about 2003 Buick Regal

1 Answer

My 2003 Buick Regal is running like ****

My 2003 Buick Regal LS with a 3.8L non supercharged engine. Whenever i start the car it hesitates and when it is running it sputters and stalls and is basically blowing pure gasoline out of then exhaust. I have tried replacing the mass airflow sensor and the spark plugs but no change. It does not matter if it is hot or cold outside it still runs like ****. Any advice or help would be better then nothing. Thanks a lot Zak

Per your description, it sounds as though you have a stuck injector. I assume you have a service engine light on. Take the vehicle to your local Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts and ask them to scan the car for trouble codes, they will scan the vehicle at no charge to you.
Write the codes down and respond back to this post and we can get started.
Let me know.

Why does my 1999 Buick Regal LS hesitate when I am accelerating?

I am assuming you have the 3.8 ltr... non supercharged? I would have your coils and ignition control module checked, thats first. Usually, when the hesitation and or misfire occurs only during acceleration, the issue normally lies in the secondary ignition system. Meaning, ignition wireset, or coil pack or ignition control module. Is your check engine light on? I would have it scanned at a local parts store for any codes that may point you in the right direction for repairs. Or you can take it to a shop and have a diagnostic scanner hooked up and go to live misfire data, and figure out if it is misfiring, and on which cylinder the problem lies. Any other things I can assist you with, please dont hesistate to ask!

2001 buick regal w/ bad ignition coil and clogged catylitic conv.

Hello! The defective ignition coil more than likely contaminated the downstream O2 sensor...If there isn't a trouble code and engine performs in a normal fashion, there's no reason to change the upstream sensor...

Can you take off the supercharger from a 1998 buick regal and replace it with a metal plate so its not used. Will the car run without the supercharger?

The supercharger is how air gets into the engine.
Two rotors force the air into the cylinder heads creating more pressure thus more horsepower.

Your engine is designed to run with the parts that are on it. If you change the intake manifold to one on a 3800 without a supercharger you will get into a situation where you will have to change the injectors and add other parts to make it run correctly. Not to mention the reprogramming issue.

If the supercharger is the problem try these people.

I bought a s/c from them and it works better than the original.

2001 Buick Regal cuts off while driving at times also won't start

The ignition switch on that model is rated @ 50amps. When I was driving my 2001 Regal LS (at 120,000 miles) and used the turn signal, the engine would die, when I switched the turn signal off, the engine ran. So I replaced the ignition switch, and all is well.
