THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM COULD BE THE CULPRIT HERE. YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE IT TO YOUR LOCAL REPAIR SHOP OR DEALER AND HAVE THEM DO A PRESSURE BLEED ON THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THEY SHOULD ALSO PERFORM AN ABS SYSTEM BLEED WHICH IS DONE WITH THE SCAN TOOL. THIS SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM. HOPE THIS HELPS!!

Have a 99 Toyota camry n brake light is on after changing right front brake caliper

Master cylinder fluid piston has entered into a brake safe mode.
when the high pressure brake system is opened in any way, the brake master cylinder piston reaches to the far end of the master cylinder which trips the brake system warning light.

This brake light condition is due to sudden loss of brake fluid pressure on the right front brake caliper assembly during the replacement.

Left rear brake caliper bleed valve will ned to be "opened" until master cylinder piston travels into the opposite direction which "resets" the brake system warning light.

Dot 4 brake fluid recommened for most, but not all vehicles.
Reference vehicle to owners manual for replacement fluid is replaced under master cylinder brake system cap.

1988 crown victoria ltd new brakes seizing up

Where to start. . . .
A defective hose would only affect that wheel.
A faulty booster or master cylinder could cause the front wheels to lock and at varied amounts. You may have a metering block or just a junction block for the front lines. It would be mounted near the frame if you have one. Some Ford models from 88 - 92 used a master cylinder with the metering valve built in.
Its possible the front calipers got hot enough with the old pads to damage both front hoses.
I would want to know what it takes to release the pressure on the pads. Do you have to take the hoses loose, or just the bleeder screws on the calipers ? Or are the calipers not sliding back and forth ?

I just replaced the front calipers and i replaced the master cylinder as well. after i bled the system, the caliper piston is causing the brakes to drag.help!

More often then not, the calipers don't sieze up, the rubber brake hose locks pressure inside the caliper. Try pushing the caliper piston back in, then do the same with the bleeder open. If they go in hard with the bleeder closed, and easy with the bleeder open, replace the corresponding brake hose.

I'm having a problem with the front-right brake where it's apparently getting very hot. The whole vehicle just recently had a brake job done, drums in back and discs in front. I ended up having to replace...

the brake is getting hot, because it is dragging, i see you have replaced the brake caliper and master cylinder the only thing left is the brake hose that aitches to the caliper, it must not be releasing the fluid back to the master cylinder.

hear is a way to test the brake system to find out what is causing the drag.

jack up the car and place on jack stands, have someone pump up and hold the brakes, wile you put pressure on the wheels, the instant the brake peddle is released the wheel should turn easily, if it does not open the bleeder if the wheel instantly turns easily then you need to replace the hose if not then replace the caliper.

IM WORKING ON A 88 OLDS 98 I REPLACED THE MASTER CYL. TWICE BOTH HOSES PADS ADJUSTED THE REAR BRAKES AND BLED 2 QTS. OF FLUID THROUGH IT AND STILL I HAVE A CRAPPY PEDAL IT FEELS LIKE THERE IS NO PRESSURE...

Have you changed the brake hoses on the front going to the brake caliper? If not, this could be the problem, also, when bleeding, only pump the pedal one time upon releasing the bleeder screw,do not pump the pedal, start at the master cylinder, then the right rear, and the left rear, and the right front and left front in that order, adjust the rear brakes to where the brakes are dragging pretty good, but are not locking up,

Pistons in both front calipers stay out, both calipers replaced

You may have a leak in the booster or master cylinder. You can put a pressure tester on the system to test for leaks. It does sound like you have an air leak.
You can try to bleed the master cylinder, then slave cylinder, then brake lines.

Just replaced master cylinder on 1990 aerostar and bled the brakes, still the pedal goes to floor and i have no brakes

Did you bench bleed the master cyl. before installing it? then when you installed the new master, did you bleed all 4 points? If yes, then check all for points for leaking caliper/s and leaking wheel cylinder/s. If the van has ABS, check the valve body for a bleeder screw and see if air bleeds out of it. If you've checked everything twice and did everything right then your new master cyl. may be defective.
