Hi,
There should be a locknut that you loosen first. After that there's a tensioner that you tighten.
Thanks

I'm really new to FixYa, so someone let me know if this is a no-no. These instructions look very well laid-out. No sense in reinventing the wheel:

thr is no pully that makes it tight.. u have to undo some bolts on the altanater and then put the belt on.. (note) thr is a long slider with a bolt on it just right of it next to the radiator. undo that a lil and itll slide down.. :D

Abs and service light on constant,

I have a 1998 Renault Laguna 2.2DTi and on occasion the ABS warning light comes on. The reason for it is nothing to do with the ABS but the seat belt pretensioner. Where the seat belt clips in, there is a plastic moulding around the seat belt restraint, if you put your hand inbetween the seat cushion and the moulding you will feel various cables - if you play about with them, the warning light will go out!

91 accord alt belt

  1. Apply a force of 100 N (10 kg, 22 lbs) and measure the deflection between the alternator and crankshaft pulley. Deflection: 10 - 12 mm (0.39 - 0.47 in)
NOTE:
  • On a brand-new belt, the deflection should be 4.5 - 7 mm (0.18 - 0.28 in) when first measured.
  • If there are cracks or any damage evident on the belt, replace it with a new one.
    1. Loosen the through bolt and adjustment locknut.
    2. Turn the adjusting bolt to obtain the proper belt tension, then retighten the nut and mounting bolt.
    3. Recheck the belt deflection.
