just looked up on NAPA and see press in kind and complete arm. generally when complete arm is offered it means that joint may not be removable...double check this with your parts dealer.

Did you remove the snap ring? some of the trucks(gm) require replacement of the whole control arm when replacing the ball joint. If you put a jack stand under the control arm near the ball joint, take a good size hammer and hit the ball joint stud hard, and drive it threw.Remove the snap ring first. If I can help anymore let me know.roniecon@gmail.com

I need to change the lower ball joint on my 89 f150 4x4 how do i do it

remove brakin system(caliper pads rotor) then disconnect outer tie rod, remove cotter pins on both ball joint nuts and remove nuts, then separate hub from i-beam, on the bench remove spring clip holing ball joint and press out, press in new joint and install hub in reverse order of dissassembly, apply grease to axle regrease bearings and caliper sliders, you will need a ball joint separator and a ball joint press, use new cotter pins

How to remove lower ball joint 2001 chevy silverado 2500 hd 4x4

The reason is they are pressed in and you have to press them out with a tool and some have a C clip that has to be removed you can go to schucks or autozone to rent the tool to press out and it has to be pressed back in.

I think the lower ball joints when removing will give you easier access to the top. I would suggest going to the local parts store for a print out of the procedure to be on the safe side.
