Question about 1997 Dodge Caravan

3 Answers

Turn signals not working....wipers come on by themselves....radio display does not light. I had to add a jumper in the power relay box to even get the heater fan to work..this car sat for 5 years and drew some moisture inside the vehicle....I have not found any corrosion on any terminals.... I'm thinking it's got a moldy low voltage short or inconsistent ground somewhere..

I would get yourself a wiring diagram (google your model and year + wiring diagram) and refresh every terminal connection and ground you can reasonably get to - focusing on those that control the items you are having issues with. A connection does not have to look bad to have corrosion between the connective surfaces.

The BodyControlModule up near fuse panel sounds like it could be acting up, especially if moisture has gotten to it. You can try a recycled one from autowreckers but make sure it's returnable if it doesn't work. Usually have to get same part number from dealer.

Windshield wipers won't turn off

This SHOULD be two different problems. I hope.
The wiper problem is very likely the wiper motor.
There is a "transmission" built into the motor, that used to be rebuildable 40 years age, but not any more.
The are made as cheaply as possible, and can fail in a few years, and often do.
Replacing the motor should fix that problem.
Since these are made cheaply, I have even gotten new ones off the shelf and had them "no good" either.
The turn signal, start with the fuse under the dashboard.
Then go to the turn signal relay, either under the dashboard or under the hood in a black plastic box.
If your 4-way flashers work, it would usually be the turn signal relay, since the 4-ways use a separate relay.
God bless your efforts.

1994 Jeep Cherokee Sport Fuse Needed?

Sometimes there are relays under the hood. There is usually a diagram posted underneath the door when you tak it off. The turn signal is usually just a fuse, which may be in your glove box(has a diagram under the door), under the driver or passenger side dash. Do you still have the manual for the vehicle?
