Always before replacing any parts have your car's electronic module computer be analyzed by the authentic dealer. Many faults are indicated in diagnosis print out.

I did not mean to replace any part before a complete diagnosis is done. Manufacturer or dealer of the car's brand connects a large computer/electronic tool to your car's computer, and get all the necessary information about malfunctioning parts of the car. You replaced car's computer and all was fine until something happened again: Either the replaced computer is still OK or not. If not, you know what to do. If OK then connect diagnosis tool to it and find what else is malfunctioning. The whole point is that if you don't have a complete diagnosis then each mechanic tells you to replace one part of the car to find out that you did not need replacing it. This method is how mechanics make millions from the poor masses.

It cranks, but why doesn't it always start?

What is year--make--model and engine size? The basics, if it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs, gasoline engine. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure, also check for fuel injector pulse. Check cylinder compression.

Can you check for applicable trouble codes?

2000 infiniti QX4 3.3L (engine has a distributer) stalls out especially when revved from idle. Also won't start or very difficult to start, haven't been able to get it to start for a couple days...

pull one ignition cable out of cap just enough to see the tip of connector and crank it, a spark should jump from cap to tip of wire. no spark means you need the whole distributor replaced. buy it from nissan or infiniti dealer, it comes with cap rotor installed and 12 mo 12k mile warranty, no matter who installs it. dont waste time with aftermarket rebuilt distributor, those are not reliable. https://parts.infinitiusa.com/

You've already eliminated the spark plug & wireset, distributor cap & rotor.
Sounds like your car needs a tune-up, specifically, the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve, and/of the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve.

Components checked/replaced during a tune-up are:
air filter
motor oil
motor oil filter
breather filter
fuel filter(s)
fuel strainer
PCV valve
EGR valve
spark plugs
spark plug wires
ECM or distributor cap & rotor
cabin air filter
transmission oil filter
transmission oil
engine coolant
check all vacuum hoses and lines

95 chevy blazer - engine turning over but not turning. replaced cap & rotor + fuel filter.

3 things make an engine run, fuel, electrics and gearing, first thing, remove the cap and crank the engine, determine if the rotor is moving, this will eliminate a broken cam, sprockets, chain or broken teeth on the distributer. next with the ignition lights on rotate the roter button by hand in between contacts, you should hear and see small spark, replace the cap and crank engine with a plug lead off, ask a friend to see if it is sparking onto metal nearby. Next remove fuel line and crank engine to see if fuel pushes from the line. then that leaves gearing, timing must be correct, check the lead numbers are in correct firing order and timing is right. Hope this guide helps you, Good luck

Engine shuttles when starts

check your spark plugs, distributer cap and cables, sometime the wire leaks, if you put your car in the dark place during the night, turn on your engine, see if there is any spark from the cap and cable. if you see some spark, change it.

check your timing.
