Does the fan stay on for a very long period of time? If so, that would be a problem. :) If not, many vehicles will run the fan after engine shutdown in order to bring the coolant down to a more nominally safe level before finally shutting down. Again, this is common, but only if the fan isn't running for a really extended period, causing the battery to discharge. If THAT is the case, then it's time for the dealer to perform some warranty work! :)

I hope this helps!

I agree. I don't see many cars these days that still run the fan after shutdown, either. I actually haven't seen that for a long time now! Though it does sound like a normal act and anomaly of your vehicle. As an automotive technician, it can actually be a little scary to work around that area of the fan unless I disconnect it first. (I'm always afraid the thing's going to kick on with my hand in it!)

Albeit, I hope you enjoy your new purchase! I've always loved Minis! :)

My 2009 mini-cooper heats and loses power when the ac. is on phoenix az

No, there is nothing to change in the programming. Make sure the fan is coming on high when the engine is hot. If not, please get back to us for troubleshooting. If the fan is coming on high, the thermostat might not be opening fully.

Hit a snow embankment and 2009 Mini will not turnover

Did you hit the front of the Mini? Minis have a very tight engine compartment. If you hit the embankment hard enough it likely damaged the front of the engine and something may be rubbing.

Cont question on impala ck engine

Haven't yet checked the coolant temp sensor ? Does the vehicle shift good , engine run good ? If yes the coolant sensor isn't any problem . Is this your only problem ,The 25 amp mini fuse that keeps blowing is labled as fan cont #1 > You have a direct short to ground on the circuit that fues powers up . Do yo know how to find a short ? Videos on youtube for checking for shorts . It's probably a wiring problem . Insulation rubbed through , touching metal on the vehicle somewhere . I want to remove the center storage box (over the hand brake) from my 2011 Clubman S. I keep cutting the top of my hand on it.

Sorry we do not know how to remove the center storage box. The car is to new. If the car was at least 2 years old we could help you. I recommend you go to the dealer and ask them to remove it for you.

2005 mini cooper battery was dead, bought new one and now will not crank. Radio and lights come on.

Have you looked into the PSP (Power Steering Pump) relay, or the cooling fan? This problem has been know to create issues and lead to a dead battery. For more information, read this forum of MINI owners, there are quite a few with your issue, and they are trying to get a recall. the 2005 MINI's also have a headlight recall.

My fan also has quit the assembly is new so i

Use a known working relay of the same type and turn on your a/c on high, then put in the relay where the old high speed fan relay was. If it comes on, it's the relay. Try this on low speed as well. If they don't come on when the A/C is on, it could be your pcm/ecu as well. If it doesn't communicate with the sensor, it won't turn on. Check with A/C running to narrow it down. If they work here, look into the engine coolant temperature sensor.
