What you describe is very common on your car.
Failure of the crankshaft position sensors are common on your particular model year.
The replacements are an improved design.

Get someone to extract the diagnostic trouble codes for you, or I can explain so that you can do it yourself.

2000 Audi A6 starting problems

Start with your starter and make sure it's not stuck out and getting too hot. Starters in a simple explanation come out to make contact with the fly wheel and start the car then retract when not being used.

your starter is grounded, replace it, it takes me half an hour to does it, been doing this 25 years, when a starter's bearing startes to fail, it grounds itself and messes the electric system. if you need to know how to do it yourself, just ask !

Not starting or turning over jst click stil have electrics tho

You can bench test a starter. But be warned it jumps when the jumper cables are applied.
Take and put the nut from the battery cable connection back on. Put the Positive battery lead of the jumper cable on that. Hook up the jumper cables to a good battery. Touch the negative battery cable to the mounting housing of the starter. A quick touch is all you need to do. If the starter is good it will will shoot out the starter drive gear and spin freely. The starter will jump and twist.

go to the starter and check voltage, with a volt meter, on the small wire on the starter while the key is in the start position, if there is voltage there then replace the starter.
NOTE: voltage will only be present with the key in the start position.

1996 Mazda MPV will not start

It sound like you need a new starter. I am not not sure why they serviced the distributor, but you mentioned the engine doesn't turn over. The only other thing could be a bad neutral safety switch or ignition switch. Have someone check the "signal" wire to the starter for switched power( power when you turn the key to start position). If power is present, I'd replace the starter. If not, check Ign. switch or neutral safety switch. I hope this helps
