The most likely cause of oil in your exhaust would be worn or damaged rings, pistons, or valve stem seals and should be serviced. Letting it go could cause much more damage to the cylinders or pistons.

My apologies, I wasnt paying attention to the make/model.

It is quite possible that a sticking ABV Vent Solonoid or ABV Vacuum Solonoid could cause this issue as well. Do you get a bit of oil smoke from the exhaust?

4. then pull out the oil dip stick from engine
5. and clean the dip stick on a rag.
6. Put dip stick back in engine

8. If level is too low on dip stick and is not at full level go back to step 1

These steps ensures you avoid over filling the engine with oil

Tip for beginners
The 4 litre oil bottle is way too much oil for an engine to handle.
If you have a full 4 litre oil plastic bottle square shape . hold the bottle on its side to pour the oil out slowly and smoothly.

So i believe my car is leaking oil from the engine. When I start the car it makes a jumping/ shaking motion and wont stay running for over 30 minutes

After the car has set for awhile, does it have oil that has dripped from it on the ground? If not it is burning the oil and it is going out thru the exhaust pipe. They do this when the valve seals have worn or is damaged. Oil gets thru the valves and into the cylinders, is burned and goes out the exhaust. If this is the case the spark plugs will have trouble at start up because oil is on the plugs, and when it does start it's going to smoke, at least at first. Have a dependable mechanic look at it.

I need to know how much oil to put in buss Toyota coaster model 2007 can help I would be grateful many thanks

Most small diesel engines run 6 litres in the sump so start with 5 litres and check the dip stick Continue to add until the full level is reached.. Check after short run (1-2 minutes) and top up if necessary

How do I change oil?

Get a drain container to fit under car that will hold more than 4litres of oil.
Drain hole is under front of car on bottom of engine on oil pan.
Remove plug,  allow to drain, inspect the brass washer and file smooth both sides if necessary or sand it, if a plastic washer inspect and replace if necessary.  Be careful not to strip nut upon replacing. Don't overtighten, but a bit more than snug!

5w30 oil typically for all overhead cam engines newer than 1992

Do not mix different oils, eg: 5w30 and 10w30.
Do not use synthetic if not a fresh rebuild or not currently used.

** Slick 50 is an oil additive that puts a teflon coating on your engine parts and I swear by it.
Do not overfill engine - put 3 litres in and allow to run down and check dipstick.
When replacing oil filter be sure rubber seal doesn't stay on engine block.  Fill new filter half-full with new oil and put oil on rubber seal and clean surface of engine where oil goes in.
After filling engine, start and look for leaks.  If you cleaned everything you will notice leak easily.
Shouldn't be a problem unless you messed up seal on filter by not following these directions.
Check with your manual for proper type of oil but should be 5w30.
Good luck.

I have a mazda 6 2 litre diesel eating oil, what

Mazda say that if your Mazda 6 consumues less than a litre every 900 miles then it within tolerance.
However these cars have a complicated induction mechanism controld by lots of diffrent vacume pots that are inturn controlled by servos, when any one of these becomes faulty the pressure balance between the exhaust side of the turbo and the inlet side becomes inbalanced, resulting in oil being forced through the turbos bearings. Its that simple lol!
The first thing I would check would be the swirl control valve, In the inlet manifold, This gets fouled up by the exhaust gases getting recycled by the egr valve(exhaust gas recycler)
Sooty deposits mix with oil coming from your turbo and jam it closed restricting the amount of air into the engine, and reducing power as well as creating black smoke from your exhaust.
So my advice would be to get your egr valve proffetionally blanked off, and have your induction system checked over.
Hope this helps as I am sure this is a very common problem!

I have a 97 Chevy Lumina. I drove away from work last night and got about a block or so and the engine died. The oil light came on so I figured it needed oil. I put 3 quarts in it and it started right up...

Did your car have a funny knocking noise before you added the oil either the 1st or 2nd time and to add 6 pints of oil then you must be either burning it (a lot of blue smoke ) out the exhaust pipe or a very bad leak somewere, but if you need more oil again then if its about 6 pints again then the answer to your question would be Get and Fit a second hand engine as yours wont be any good by now as the bearings and chrankshaft would be well worn and buggered .
Does the engine turn over by hand easy And have you lost power in the last few days or any strange noises from the engine compartment.
It doesent sound good i must admit but Let me know how you get on .. Ron

Oil change

Add three quarts and then check the oil dip stick..if it is still low then slowly add a fourth quart and check it again...most cars don't use more then four quarts of oil (some use five quarts)
