Not sure of your question? do you mean the allowable limits? it varies by state, but the levels are very close to zero for most emissions on this year with a hot ennine and catalytic converter.

If it smells like bad eggs, the catalytic convertor could be on its way out. You say the exhaust was checked, but was it checked just for for damage or emissions also?

I HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH MY BMW 530 D A 2004 MODEL AND SOMETIME IN 2013 SEND IT TO BMW TO REPAIR THE EXHAUST EMISSIONS AS THE LIGHT KEEPS COMING UP AND PAYED A FORTUNE AND THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRE

It would appear that there is a crack in the exhaust manifold or a faulty manifold gasket. The fault light may be the ECM warning of a "faulty" O2 sensor which is the one after the cat converter as the ECM reads the differences in voltages between the front sensor ( HO2S) and the O2 sensor. That is how it knows of such things as faulty cat converter, manifold leaks ,manifold leaks etc.
If it is not under warranty find an accredited shop that specialises in you make of car for a second opinion, but if still covered by warranty complain very loudly to the manufacturer about the service dealer.

What's the definition of co ppm

"CO" is the abbreviation for Carbon Monoxide. It is an odorless, colorless, toxic gas that exists in automobile exhaust. "PPM" is the abbreviation for "parts per million". PPM is a standard used to measure gases, including CO. The EPA sets regulatory standards for how much CO may be emitted from automobiles. States have emissions testing programs to ensure these standards are met. If the CO in the exhaust of an automobile exceed the EPA's standards in PPM, then the vehicle will fail the emissions test and the vehicle must be serviced and made to meet the standard.

Automobile noise, emissions exceed the standard

May be due to the engine exhaust gas in the high temperature oxidation, resulting in leakage of exhaust system. use obd2 inspection of the exhaust system at the interface of it is gas corrosion, interface pad has not been washed. If the exhaust system leakage should be timely to the 4S shop for repair or replacement of leakage components, reduce the pollution emission of harmful substances in environment.

Is it neccessary for a car to have a resinator/cat convertor

Yes, legally as well as performance wise. Your vehicle needs the back pressure from the factory exhaust components for the engine to run correctly.
There is no reason to remove the cat, but it is illegal to do so.

What is egr valve

Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve, Controls flow of exhaust gases into the intake manifold. Used for meeting emissions standards. usually sticks open or shut resulting in too much or too little exhaust being used in intake air. Makes car run crappy.

Where is bank 2 sensor one on a 2004 cadillac SRX

Two sensors per bank are used, one before the catalyst and one after. This is done for a catalyst efficiency monitor that is a part of the diagnostic system of the engine controls. The one before the catalyst measures the exhaust emissions right out of the engine, and sends the signal to the ECM about the state of the mixture as previously talked about. The second sensor reports the difference in the emissions after the exhaust gases have gone through the catalyst. This sensor reports to the ECM the amount of emissions reduction the catalyst is performing.

Generally, O2 sensor is on driver side 2nd one back...

Mazda 323f gxi 2,o derv 04 model failed emissons on excessive smoke

Hi, Few things to check here, first i would check the Lambda sensor as this monitors the air fuel mixture and stops the car running too lean or too rich. The most likely option is that the catalytic converter may be at fault the element inside may have broken up over time and therefore is unable to breakdown the exhaust emission into a cleaner release of exhaust fumes resulting in emissions failure. At the very worst you may have worn piston oil rings that would also produce excessive smoke emissions from the exhaust.

I have a BMW Z4 2003 2.5 with the exhaust emission

The Exhaust Emission Light can come on if the car is driven slowly over short distances. It will not happen on cars driven at speed. A short trip of ten miles at over 3000 revs should reset the warning light, although it may not go out for a couple of days after you have tried it . Hope this helps and saves a bill at the local dealer. JK

Metro P0420 diag code

You might check to make sure the PCM reprogramming won't fix this problem without changing the converters. Many cars had bad software that makes this code appear. A small exhaust leak can cause this code also.
