Question about 1992 Chevrolet S-10
Are you asking if there is an overflow? There is no overflow for the transmission. If you transmission is over full you will need to drain it before it does serious damage to you transmission. To do that you will need a socket to fit the Transmission pan bolts, a new Transmission pan seal, a tube of forma gasket. Remove the bolts and break the pan loose by lightly tapping it. It is best to remove the bolts 3/4 of the way out then with a catch pan under the transmission break the pan free at one end and allow the fluid to drain. If you totally remove the bolts and then break it free the pan has a tendency of falling down and getting oil all over. Once the fluid is drain clean off the old seal, dry both surfaces. Apply a thin bead of RTV to the Transmission pan edge wherethe seal will go, carefully place the seal in place aligning the holes for the bolts then carefully lift the pan into place and install the bolts. In most cases these bolts should be torqued to about 30lbs max. Typically, if you see the seal starting to bulge out at the bolts you have them tight enough. You don't want a large portion of the seal squeezing out and the RTV compund is not an indicator. Once the pan is in place properly you can fill the transmission with the proper fluid. Start by adding half the capacity of teh transmission then start the motor and check the level with it in park and add fuid till it is at the proper level. While parked go to each gear on your selector and sit in each gear for about 5 minutes after you get back to park re-check your fluid level and top off as needed.
