Question about Ford F-150

1 Answer

I have a 1988 f-150 5.8 liter that has set up for 9 years,I have new gas ,new fuel filter, and have fuel at the test point on the injector fuel line. I don't know the psi at that point, I don't have a gauge to test it. I have been told it should be some where in the range of 35 to 45 psi. I have put in a new set of plugs and they are fireing. When you turn the key on the fuel pump presures up,the engine is turning over, just will not hit and crank.

Sounds like everything with the fuel is good. You will need to check the spark. Test crankshaft position tester, module and coil packs. If it has a distributor, test the pulse. Fuel pressure should be between 30-45

Hans here hopefully there is an easy way to test fuel pressure regulator on 89 dodge d150 318 tbi the truck is not running because when key is turned to on position both the injectors absolutely pour gas...

If you don't have the fitting for the fuel line you can remove the fuel filter and with a gauge a tee peace and some fuel line and clamps check your pressure there should be 9 to 13 psi. The gas pouring into the engine could be from bad O rings on the injectors.

Why wont my 90 f-150 custom EFI 5.0L start?

If you got as lot of rust from the fuel. you may have to replace the filter again. or clean out all the fuel lines and replace the injectors. May even have to replace the fuel tank.

I have a 1994 Toyota Corolla what would make it sputter? It has the 1.6 liter..

A fuel pressure problem, possibly. Have the fuel pressure tested, and if low, could be a weak pump or a fuel filter starting to plug up.
Any number of other things it could be. Always check for trouble codes when a problem develops in the engine management.
Has it just started doing it? Have you put gas into it from a can or jug that may have had water in it? Does it do it all the time engine is running, or at certain speeds of the engine?
If fuel pressure is good, try some injector cleaner, in case some debris got picked up in the tank. Injectors seldom get clogged, I think cause they are always awash in new gas just delivered from the tank. The return line allows the gas to constantly circulate past the injectors.
Well, if it isn't gas, it's gotta be something else. I gotta go. Good night.

Where is the fuel filter located

without providing the year/make/model of your vehicle it is difficult to identify specific location
easiest answer is ...find your gas tank and follow the lines from the tank to the injector rail under the hoodat some point you "should" find the fuel filterunless of course it is a newer vehicle where the fuel filter is located inside the gas tank!!!

I start my vehicle, its turns over then cuts off. I have to pump the gas to get it to stay on. it stays on when driving. is it a fuel injector or pump issue? i was told it may be just gunk and needs fuel...

You can try the fuel cleaner but more then likely, it is something other then that. Check the fuek pump and make sure it is working correctly. Test the wires. It should be 12 V. Follow the line down to the fuel filter and check that. Make sure fuel is getting to the filter. The filter may be clogged. If that checks out, follow the gas lines down and make sure there are no leaks or damage. Next, move to the injectors. Make sure they are working properly. Check the fuel regulator as well. You should find your problem at one of these points. If you have a question, let me know. I am here to help in anyway I can. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

hey it may be a simple thing! i would start at this, add lucas fuel treatment to gas tank to clean your fuel injectors, ask this question? truck been setting long time? more than 2months? if so most likely ,,bad gas if setting that long, also try CLEAR AND I REPEAT!!! CLEAR AND NOT GREEN rubbing alcohol 1 one whole bottle be added to fuel tank with at east 4 gallons of gas and drive for 25 miles to clean the injectors and to clean the fuel lines and the fuel lines. most very likely, this will take care of your spatter.hope this helps!

If you had a strong stream of gas shooting out then you may have an fuel injector problem. Possibly a clogged injector or bad injector. If the stream of gas was weak replace fuel filter first and test again. If problem persists check pump fuse then replace pump. sorry for miss reading your post.
