Car turns off while driving, and now it wont start

K heres the deal... sometimes my car drives very good, no stalling. Other times my car will stall while driving, sitting even going 70 down the highway it will stall. When it stalls while driving the dash lights come on, and it seems to not be getting gas. Sometimes it will start right back up, other times it will not start until i have left it alone for a long time. I have replaced the coil pack and the ignitoin control module. Nothign has helped and im unsure that to do next. The diagnostic test i had done on it sadi the ingine control module was bad, but, WRONG!!!!
Just today it stalled on me and i could get it to start a few times but it would not get any gas so it stalled out again..... any ideas????
PLEASE HELP!!!

it truly sounds like either a bad ground to the fuel pump or a bad fuel pump itself or a clogged fuel filter for starting diagnostics start with the easiest 1st find the fuel cap to the injection bar itself and turn the key to the on position ..do you hear fuel pump working ? ..if so depress the fuel valve to ensure gas is flowing if not it narrows it down to fuel filter or fuel pump remove the fuel filter and using a rag see if you can blow through it and check to empty all the gas from it if it feels heavy its most likely the filter fairly inexpensive maby 14.00 if all is well there hold a gas can up to the line and see if a constant flow of gas is dispensed while in the on position even though it flows it may cut short may be as well a bad connection and whenever you hit a bump causing a break in the connection check to ensure the plug is properly seated and not corroded sounds as if one of the three are at fault as far as cutting out to me or in fact a wire someplace is grounding out check all around the motor especially around the engine block for wires that may have been burnt again it may go well before hitting and wiggeling around before causing another lost connection again im am merely at a starting point here with you

The same thing happened to me and the mechanic replaced the "brain" I am sure that isn't the technical explanation. And I have been running fine since then. Hope this helps you. I know how frustrating it can be.

Its you fuel pump in the gas tank. When it won't start have someone just turn your key on while you listen at the gas tank or gas tank fill. The fuel pump should engage. You can also tale the fuel line loose at the injectors and see if it pumps any fuel on the occasions when it will not start.

Occasional lurching and dying upon start-up or shifting into reverse or drive.

I would look at the alternator. With everything that is going wrong it all comes down to charge. It would seem that the alternator is only working part time as it is on its way out. I am guessing that as you are driving it is only charging the battery sometimes and other times it is not charging the battery causing your issues. The alternator can be checked at any parts store for free without taking it out.

If you knock gently under the fuel tank for about 5-6 times and then start your vehicle. If it starts, then 100% it is time to replace the fuel pump. Good luck.
