1988 chevy 350 problem
1988 chevy k1500 4x4 with 350 engine. Truck ran fine. Parked it. It will not start. Just cranks. Plugs, wires, coil and distributor only a year old( less that 300 mile on them).Its getting gas to the tbi but will no fire. Anyone else ever ran iton this? Thank You

- Hi: for today I checked all fuel parts(OK) sprayed starter fluid down tbi and nothing. I changed the distributor modual, thinking it could cause the problem. Still the same. Night time,so it is time to stop. Tommorow i'll pull all plugs and check and ohm wires. I have to read on how to check the coil.But I must be missing something. DanClarification Request

Parts that are a year old are not new anymore. You will need to test everything and run through the basics...Do you have spark? fuel at throttle body...if you spray carb cleaner into it while cranking will it start? Seen it before? I've seen new parts not even make it out of the driveway...Assume nothing test everything. Tell me what you find and we'll go from there.

The crank angle sensor maybe bad. It sends a signal to the computer so the spark plugs fire up.

I would check the cap rotor and coil wire. especially rotor, a bad cap will generally give you a miss, not a no-start. Doubtful that plug wires all went bad at once so don't bother checking with ohm meter (do that if necessary when it's running.) Check spark at one or two wires at plug end and see if you have any. Check the distributor shaft for excessive side play. check pickup coil inside dist. and check ignition coil. As module is new, doubt if it is bad. Also, make sure you are getting 12v to the coil from the ignition switch.
also make sure when you are cranking the engine that the rotor is actually turning. If you need help with testing ask and I'll help you. only part that can't really be tested is the module but if new you don't need to do that.
