Question about 1984 Subaru Brat

1 Answer

I need to remove the window knob on 1984 subaru brat so that I can put the window back on the track. I've been able to remove most of the door panel, but I can't get the window knob off.

There is a very affordable special tool which can be found at many auto parts stores... it is a thin metal plate that will slip behind the panel and dis-lodge the clip off the handle...If this removal tool is not available, try a hook shape scribe which will remove it as well but takes a little more effort and fishing around for the clip

How to repair rear window that won't roll up or

You'll need to remove the door panel from the inside of the door. Go to an auto parts store and ask them for a trim removal tool and a pry tool to help remove the window crank handle - tell the clerk what you want to do. Use the trim tool to unhook the catches around the outside of the door panel. Remember to unscrew the arm rest before you try to pull the panel off the door. Once you have that off, you will likely find that that the glass has slipped off of the track that the bottom of the glass rides on. It helps to have someone help you hold the glass as you lift it up and reset it on the track. Make sure that it is seated squarely on the window track and that it rides up and down smoothly before you put all the parts back together.

Good luck!

Need driver side sunroof for 1985 SUBARU BRAT GL. Driver side glass sunroof is broke, I need a new one. Where can one be bought.

Ebay is the best option, but you will have to keep searching or set up your account to receive emails when a brat item is listed. I am currently restoring an 85 brat as we speak.

Yellow wire goes to the Negative coil terminal, Black/white wire goes to Postive coil terminal. I think this is what your asking?
It is funny you posted a question regarding Subaru Brats, I am currently restoring one at this time. Comment back if you need more help.

How do you put rear window back on track for 2005 Highlander?

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Pull back the weather seal and you can access the window and the track. You may need to purchase some new replacement clips that secure the window onto the track.
