Question about 2003 Kia Optima

1 Answer

The auto-unlock is not functioning, but the auto-lock is.

2003 KIA Optima. When I use my keys to unlock all doors (double key turns to the right on the driver door or one turn to the left on the front passenger door), it does not unlock all doors. The unlock button on the driver's side door doest not work either and you can hear clicking sound coming from the fuse box. Is the fuse seperate by lock and unlock functionality?

Ok the switch on the drivers side not working is the problem, its not allowing the cicuit to be completed.you may want to check the passenger side lock actuator.

My 2012 kia optima Fob died i replaced the battery but it still wont work unless i put it in the glovebox just to start the car the buttons on the fob doesnt work i only had the car for 2 months.

There is a possibility that your key fob might lost the programming. I suggest that you re-program your key fob, follow the next steps to re-program it.

Instructions
    • 1 Sit in the vehicle and close all the doors. Insert the key into the ignition.
    • 2 Turn the key to the "Off" position then to the "On" position. Repeat this until the door locks cycle to indicate that the programming mode is activated. End with the ignition key in the "On" position.
    • 3 Press the "Unlock" or "Lock" button on the programmable remote. Listen for the doors to lock or unlock to verify successful programming.
    • 4 Turn the ignition key to the "Off" position. Listen for the door locks to cycle to indicate that you have exited the programming mode.
    • 5 Repeat the above steps to add any additional remotes.

2003 Kia Optima doors are unlocked but wont open. How do I get the doors open in order to remove the panels to fix the problem?

will the drivers door not open whilst the key is turned in the key lock ?if not can you open the trunk with the key , lean into the trunk and there should be a catch to release one of the rear seats down, then get some one small , scramble through to the rear of vehicle and open back door from inside , hope this helps, when you get into vehicle check the fuse for the central locking as might save you stripping out the door panel,if fuse ok just strip out the drivers door as this is the actuating lock that sends the signal to the other doors

2002 kia Optima door will not unlock

Sounds like something is jamming. If you are capable, take the door skin off and pull the lock rod off and see if the key turns, then you know the key cylinder is fine and the lock mechanism is seizing, if not then the cylinder is seizing

2005 kia optima driver door wont unlock

You may have an bad door lock actuator. If it can't be unlocked manually, with the master switch or key fob the most likely cause is the door lock actuator. For this you would have to remove the door panel in order to gain access to it.

Driver door won't unlock

I would check the lock linkage inside the door and make sure the actuator arm is in the right place and not worn.

My drivers door locks with out reason. When I unlock with my key, I can open all of the doors except the drivers door. If I try to open the drivers door it will lock all of the doors again. The same thing...

seems to be a common problem on 03 kia's. most likely the latch mechanism is worn (they are mostly plastic and pretty cheaply made) and will need to be replaced. It happened to my kia and most mechanics directed me to the electric actuator, but all electircs were ok. drivers door latch went bad about 45k and front passenger door latch went bad about 65k.

Could be the door unlock relay is bad . Has a Separate relay for locking the doors . You'll have to look in your fuse boxes for location .
