Keep track of when you last had the freon gas checked in your vehicle. Cars lose a small amount of freon each year. Low cooling power in your car may not be due to a leak, but regular usage. Your coolant may just need to be topped off.
Check around the couplings where the coolant hose is attached to the compressor. Freon gas is mixed with oil in the air conditioning system and you will feel the oil on the connection if there is a leak.
Clean and tighten the connections first. Run the air conditioning system for a few days and recheck for any oil. You may solve the problem with this simple tightening.
Run a freon leak detector in front of the air conditioner compressor. This compressor is usually located somewhere behind the dashboard. Try removing the glove box to find the box. Freon is odorless and invisible, so you need special equipment to sniff it out.
Wear protective glasses when you come anywhere near the hoses and clamps that lead to your air conditioning system. If freon gets in your eye, it can cause permanent blindness.
This will help.thanks.

check the fuel filter connections first. If all ok, have a mechanic check it. If there is an evaporative leak, the check engine light should be on.

2002 Chrysler Town & Country air conditioner only blows out hot air. Filled it with freon, but did not help. What else could be wrong with it?

How do you know it needed freon, without gauges its hard to know, most people add freon because its not cold and that may not be the problem, in turn they cause more damage to the system, these vans are famous for leaks.check all the fuses, then jump the low preasure cycling switch and see if compressor truns on,youll need to look at the clutch to see it turn, then the next step is to check the lowside and highside preasures,

Freon leak under dashboard

The leak is the evaporator which is in the dash. The complete dash has to come out to remove the hvac plenum to remove the evaporator. It is about a 7 to 10 hour job.The factory evap.core is about $475 and what ever the labor rate is for the repair shop.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Leak in air conditioner on 2000 town country

Dyes you can't usually see unless you take it apart. The easiest way i can think of is to use a leak detector that finds the leak by sniffing. Start the vehicle with a/c on place tip in the interior vent, if there is a leak it will detect it. Can be used to find any leak in the a/c system.

Code P0456 on 2003 Town & Country

Below are the possible causes for your engine light and error code:

Possible Causes:
  • EVAP fuel tank or canister vapor hoses leaking or damaged
  • EVAP system component leaking, fuel cap loose or missing
  • Leak detection pump damaged or leaking

The fuel cap is probably the most common cause of this problem. It's considered part of the emission system and if faulty or not place on the filler tube correctly, it will throw an error. Best of luck with your engine light issue. Take care!
