Question about 1996 Honda Accord
Would work intermitantly for a long time, then finally stopped working... speedometer and odometer both obviously stopped together. Not sure where to start to find the problem. Haynes manual doesn't cover any troubleshooting of it.
Initially, I would check the cable starting on the transmission side, if not, the haynes manual can go into detail about of how to remove the instrument cluster and dash board. quite possible that the cable has snapped. I hope this can resolve your issue, Good Luck!

Remove the cluster and send to a cluster specialist. if he finds nothing wrong, you should not be charged for this(ask first). If the cluster is fine, check the cables and/or the sensors that run into the tranny.
If it is the ckluster, the specialist can fix and reinstall.
