I have a 2006 chevy colbalt and every time I press on the brakes to slow down, it sounds as if I have worn out brake pads, but I ve had them checked and there fine, has anyone eles experienced any type of...

If your car still has the original brake pads, I would think it is past due for a brake job. In order to check the brakes for wear, the brake caliper must be removed and the brake pads removed for inspection. If you had the brakes inspected by a mechanic, did he drive the car to listen to the noise? To continue to drive the car with the noise is not a good idea. If it is your brakes, the problem will continue to get worse. A good mechanic will not send you out in a car that has noisy brakes and tell you they are fine. If a proper and thorough brake inspection was done, and it was determined that the brakes are ok, then the mechanic should strive to locate the source of the noise or refer you to someone who can find out what the problem is.

When driving my ford maverick 1997 then slowing down i get a rustling sound coming from the gear box especially when engine braking what could this be

Check the tranny fluid level, and stop engine braking.
While I normally like to do it as well, if you suspect a problem, it is not worth it to let it get worse.
Since trucks have lower gear ratios, it is possible to put on too much stress with engine braking.

J2 1971 bedford tipper master cylnder diagram

i have an ancient lucas brake workshop manual in the shed ,i should be able to remember as i have done enough of them in my time but now iam religated to here and a few ac regasses or taking vehicles for test ,still have some rear hub oil seals in the shed somewhere because i never throw nothing away ,right just had a look in the shed and i dont have section 9-12 of the manual i can only think i left it the UK ,now as i remember all seals point to the front except the middle piston as this has two seals the front one facing foreward and the back one facing backwards ,if it a tandem cylinder that is as the earlier ones were not a tandem but the later ones with air /hydraulic were now their was a model as i remember where it had a master cylinder in the cab which operated the unit behind the cab which worked the brakes ,Setting up the handbrake was a work of art on these motors as the levers all had to be at the right angle and the back brake wheel cylinders had a wedge shape inside them that put the handbrake on ,also their was a transmission brake on some of the models as well unless iam getting confused with the TK TM ,Anyway i do know its quicker to drop engine out of the bottom than take the cab off ,use a gearbox trolly type jack with a hole cut in it for the sump plug and push engin backwards on this then lift whole front of truck up with another skip lorry and then pull the engine out on this trolly with a land rover
