Question about 1996 Ford Explorer
When i drive it somewhere, cut it off and try to start it up it wont start. it takes hours to start up. when i turn the ignition, the lights inside come on but it wont start. i took it to the ford dealership and had it put on a computer machine but nothing came up.. it always passes inspection but yet it doesnt always start. its depressing because mechanics think im crazy or wacko because it starts for them, but doesnt for me.. i tried to crank it with the headlights on and the lights didnt go off nor did they go dim.. could it be an electrical wire or maybe the ignition switch..?? please help, this mystery has gone on for 3 years now..
Check that the small wire going onto the starter solenoid has a good contact. Next time it doesn't start, test this wire for power while the key is on Start. If it has power when you test it then, I'd suspect dodgy starter solenoid.
