Every car has a different time for changing the engine oil. You can find that by seeing the user guide of the car(car manual). Normally after 2000 kms the car engine oils are changed.if you give me the car details i can be more specific.

How to reset change oil soon light

Oil Life Monitor Resetting (KD, KE)
Description
The engine oil life monitor will indicate when to change the engine oil and the engine oil filter - usually between 5 000 km (3,000 miles) and 12 500 km (7,500 miles) since the last oil change. Under severe conditions, the CHANGE OIL message may be displayed before 5 000 km (3,000 miles). The vehicle must not be driven more than 12 500 km (7,500 miles) or 12 months without an oil change.
The engine oil life monitor will not detect dust in the oil. If the vehicle is driven in a dusty area, be sure to change the oil every 5 000 km (3,000 miles) or sooner if the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message is displayed.
Reset the oil life monitor when the oil has been changed.
Resetting Procedure
Press the INFORMATION SKIP button on the DIC control panel in order to display the OIL LIFE LEFT message.
Press and hold the RESET NO button until the display shows 100% ENGINE OIL LIFE.

NEED TO RESET OIL CHANGE LIGHT

How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System
The Engine Oil Life System calculates when to change the engine oil and filter based on vehicle use. Whenever the oil is changed, reset the system so it can calculate when the next oil change is required. If a situation occurs where the oil is changed prior to a CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message being turned on, reset the system.
Always reset the engine oil life to 100% after every oil change. It will not reset itself. To reset the Engine Oil Life System:
Display the OIL LIFE REMAINING on the DIC.
Press and hold the SET/RESET button on the DIC for more than five seconds. The oil life will change to 100%.
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message comes back on when the vehicle is started, the Engine Oil Life System has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
Good luck and thanks for your question and I hope my suggestions help. burdfrenzy

Using the black push button/rod, you know the one where you can switch to see trip A trip B etc?
keep pushing it til you get to the check engine part then it will cycle through several things. when you find the right place it will read "if new oil hold reset" at this point just hold reset. That is the black push button/rod.

If this don't work, try it again, sometimes it may miss...

I have a 2005 Venture and have not been able to reset the change engine oil light. After repeatedly pressing the trip/reset button for 2 minutes the message center was still flashing change engine oil and...

Notes ENGINE OIL LIFE SYSTEM

HOW TO RESET THE ENGINE OIL LIFE SYSTEM
The Engine Oil Life System calculates when to change your engine oil and filter based on vehicle use. Anytime your oil is changed, reset the system so it can calculate when the next oil change is required. If a situation occurs where you change your oil prior to a "CHANGE ENGINE OIL" message being turned on, reset the system.

  1. With the ignition key in "RUN" but the engine off, repeatedly push the trip/reset button until "OIL" is displayed on the Driver Information Center (DIC).
  2. Once "OIL" is displayed, push and hold the trip/reset button for five seconds. The number will disappear and be replaced by 100 (indicating 100% oil life remaining).
  3. Turn the key to "OFF". If the "CHANGE ENGINE OIL" message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
If this does not work you may have a problem with your instrument cluster.
