Question about 1997 Chevrolet Blazer

1 Answer

Driver side door and tailgate leaks when it rains.not through the window but between the door and car body itself..im pretty sure its the weather strip but not sure..also, the top part of my window to my tailgate(lift the window up, and tailgate comes down) is lifted up or something, instead of being an even surface with the truck and window the top part is sticking out and the bottom is slanted inwards, the window still shuts, just wondering if i need a new window or if there is some minor adjustments i can make

First chk the seals and see if there is a gap. If there is, you may have to ajust the hinges. Loosen the hinge bolts and. Do not remove them . Leave them loose enough to push the top in with the windoe down and latched. Then push the wind inward. Then carefully open the window and tighten two bolts on each hinge. Then ck the closing and alighment. If still needs more then repeat process but leave the bolts a litlle more snug so when you move it, it will stay untill you get the bolts tight. Good Luck, -Ned-

The drivers door has that bolt looking post thr latch clamps over IS a bolt. You need a torx bit to loosen it. loosen an sng like the tailgate bolts, then tap the pin/bolt in a fraction, snug and chk closing. Repeat if body and door don't flush. Do not remove that pin/bolt or the threaded part may drop and retrieving it may be a problem.. Now, the pin needs to be in as far as possible but out far enought for the latch to clamp and lock around. You can see about how much to move the pin inward by looking at the amount the door is sticking out. check that the door firmly latches and tighten the bolt to the point of being firm and solid.. Close door and ck alignment and you should be set. Good luck. Please excuse my spelling. A recent stroke messed up my left eye alignment and I have to one finger crossover type with my righthand. Can't just loosen and change it. :) Good luck Ned

There is water leaking inside above my passenger side door when it rains pretty hard?

is the water leak allowing the water to wick up into the headliner or is the headliner getting wet without water coming past the weather stripping around the door?

If it is wicking then fix the weather stripping.
If the water is getting headliner wet with out passing the weather stripping then you have a leaking sun roof.

You can the door seal by sitting in the car while you have some spray water (garden hose) gentle at the frontal and upper door seal.
If not leak there inspect seal of sun roof and real seal with correct type of sealant.

The driver side floor is wet under my feet thought maybe it's leak in window just on floor and only on driver side Thanks ron 2005 explorer xlt 70,000.00 miles

it might be a door/ windor seal or it could be a heating component leaking. im sure that the heater core is on the passenger side but when they begin to leak they cause a localized leak much like your description.

i would replace all the seals between the bed and the top. also the seal at the bottom of the tailgate. that should take care of any leaks unless there is a rust hole under the carpet

Rain water leaks through front driver side speaker.

Most of the door panels have a plastic liner - usually white between the door and the door panel. It normally is glued onto the inside of the metal door itself. There is a formed indentation for the speaker that are supposed to keep the moisture from entering the speaker from the back side. Thus, the speaker should only be wet if it gets wet from inside the car. I would make sure that the speaker has this kind of a shield on the back side. Rick

Water is leaking in the back on the drivers side

You may have a bad door seal strip. Check the rubber seal that goes around the door frame on the body and make sure it's first in place correctly, and secondly not torn, ripped or damaged. also make sure your window seals are good too. Good Luck
