Hi

You will need to take the dash cover off. Just get a #20 torx and you can do it. The speaker is attached to the underside of the panel.Due to design choices like cheap paper cones and foam surrounds, after a few years of use, midranges don't sound great and almost invariably disintegrate. Then you get awful buzzing and crackling.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

It will be good to go to a dearler as you said they charge $100 for a new one with replacement. If still you want to buy yourself then you can try Radioshack.

Xf falcon ute has an annoying rattle on passenger side either dash or door any suggestions please

If the rattle can be heard while stopped and engine running then have someone looking for you try finding the source or engine not running then I would go to the side of the car and try bouncing/moving the car up and down. This may give you an idea as to where and or what is causing the rattle.

Replace left front door speaker, what size? and how

The door trim will have to come off. The upper one will be the first & then the lower next. The lower one has molded L brackets at the very bottom so when you are able to take the lower one off just angle outward a few degrees and simply lift out. The speaker is bolted on the door shell.
The inside door handle has a cover that is slotted. Gently pry that cover out to get to the screw behind it. Most part of the trim is installed with rosebud clips that are pushed in. Usually the inner pull handle has two screws for a secure mount so that the door pull handle doesn't come loose easily.

Rattling in the dash

It sounds like there is a Dash Mounting Clip that has Broken and is Rattling against the Inside of the Dash. You will need to Remove the Front Panel of the Dash and check the Mounting Hardware for Breakage.

Most likely the speaker's center dust cap came loose (this is common on Audis, and maybe on M-B cars too). Just use a little glue and glue it back on and the rattle stops.

What is the milage on your Ridgeline? If it has some miles on it, remember, it's a truck. It rides somewhat rough over the rough roads, andd this is going to generate more rattles that a sedan with soft suspension.

My 2006 with 16,000 miles has developed it's first rattle (except see below) somewhere on the right passenger side. Overall I'm happy with it.

Ridgelines, at least those of my model, are known to have a bad rattle from the small radio speaker grills in the dash top. This can be easily checked by just reaching up and holding the grill as you drive. If the rattle stops, this where is't coming from. It can also easily be fixed. Push the grill toward the front and pull the rear edge up. The grill, with the speaker attached, comes out. Put some kind of padding around the small clips on all 4 corners. The design has made these fit too loosely in their opening, and the grill/speaker will rattle. I used the small round fabric and adhesive backed pads sold to put on vases, etc to stop scratches on furniture. I cut one of these in half and put a piece on each of the clips and put the speaker back in. Stopped this rattle.
