Based on what you described.
You have a vacuum hose leak causing high iddle at Park. Checking out a leak Vac hose is doing one by one, but you need a Vacuum test like from Mity Vacuum. The common problem is the rubber hose connected to the hose got cracked due to aging.

1-Your cylinder #2 needs a new spark plug to replace a bad plug. This one you can do it.

2-After replace the new Spark plug, have it connected with the wire and touch the spark plug to the engine chasis, have a helper to start the engine, if you see a strong spark tehn you don't have to worry about your coil. The function of the coil is to produce the spark in the spark plug.

3-Finding a vacuum leak then your engine will be find. All problems that you have are really causing by the vacuum problem.
I suggested to find a shop to find the vacuum leak for you to speed up the fixing process.

easiest way to find a vacuum leak is to spray carb cleaner or starting fluid around ends of hoses one at a time, engine will pick up rpms when a leaky hose is detected. ( PS avoid spraying electrical connections!!) cheers james

sounds like an idle control valve is part of the problem

Changed spark plugs and wires;now number 2 cylinder misfire

And it was alright before? Maybe you got a bad wire or plug? Try putting the old one back in or on and see if it is ok. Defective parts are sold everyday.

Went through some water van died after sitting a day it started up but engine light is now on and sputters when stopped went to auto zone they say i have a 2 cylinder misfire what excactly does this mean...

It means that the number 2 cylinder (passenger front of the engine) is not working. Whether its spark, fuel, or mechanical. The first thing you can check is if there is spark to the cylinder. With the engine running remove the spark plug wire from the number 2 spark plug. Listen or look for spark out of the plug wire. If there isn't than you can check for spark out of the coil pack. Do this with a test light or spark tester. With the engine off remove the number 2 spark plug wire from the coil pack. With the spark tester installed or the test light hooked to ground and placed on the #2 coil post have some body crank the engine over. If ther4e is no spark that you might have a bad coil pack. If there is spark than possibly the plug wire is bad.

You should not drive it with a misfire as you could ruin the catalytic converter which is very expensive to replace.

Have a 2000 mits galant-4 cy- misfire on cylinder 2 -Is there a way to check it or test- have already changed out wires connected to ignition coil.

You can buy a coil tested from advanced auto for 10 dollars to identify the spark. Have you checked compression?

Service engine light came on went to auto zone they tested machine said number 3 cylinder misfire does this car take spark plugs because i dont see how to install them

It's probably not the spark plug. I would check the coil and injector. these two are the main cause of a single cylinder misfire. ps if the car is running fine now(not missing out) I would have the code erased and wait to see if it came back on.

I have a 2003 mitsubishi galant ES 4 cylinder and have a check engine light message on i had the code read at auto zone and they told me the third cylinder is misfiring and when it idles it jumps around...

Misfire means you need spark plugs replaced. Or spark plug coils.

That's why the whole car starts shaking because its running basically on 3 cylinders and not 4 as supposed. There is no gas compression on the 3rd cylinder because once again the spark plug is "misfiring"

There also might be even a bigger problem which could be the distributor cap where the coils are connecting outside the engine.
once you fix the problem the check engine will turn off immediately

hope that helps.

ACURA TL 2000 check engine light is flashing

See if your car has an ignition control module. They will go bad over time and cause random engine misfiring. Just went thru it with my 2002 Buick LeSabre. 120,000 miles on the engine. Replaced plugs, plug wires and check the coils. It was the ICM.

2001 mitsubishi galant,2.4L eng. Getting DTC 421. Is this code related to the catalytic converter? Check eng. light always on, also DTC 302 showing.

DTC code P0421 is the O2 sensor that indicates a an issue with the Catalytic Converter. Replace the O2 sensor to the Catalytic Converter "the one after Converter" It's common for the sensor to fail and you can pick one up from Auto Zone and they will have the step by step instructions to replacing the O2 sensor.
DTC code P0302 Indicates a misfire on cylinder #2. Address the spark plug, spark plug wire, and injector. Look for any damages and try running some fuel injector cleaner through the fuel system to clean out the injectors.
Good luck and hope this helps.
