2000 Kia Sephia.I replaced the Mass Air Flow Sensor and prior, I had replaced the idle throttle sensor. After the Mass, now my idle is over 2 grand?!

run the fault codes to get an idea of the faulty sensors
black smoke and soot is extreme over fueling
that can be from
faulty injectors--leaking tips or seals
failed heated oxygen sensor --one in the exhaust manifold before the cat converter
excessive fuel pressure ---faulty pressure regulator
mass air flow sensor--faulty wiring /connections
ambient air temp sensor ---faulty will tell that ECM that it needs more fuel as it is too cold ( sort of like a choke operation)
there are mechanics that will come with scanners to read the codes or if you can drive it go to an autotune or similar like place shop and have it read for free

How to fix mass airflow sensor in 2001 kia sephia

The mass air flow sensor is in the tube going to the injection unit. Between air filter and injection unit. Be very careful it is very delicate handle with care, fine wires on inside of tube for MAF sensor, go to any auto parts store and tell them you need MAF sensor cleaner. the instructions are on can. Do not hit the fine wires of the MAF sensor with the straw on can. This will clean the sensor, unless you just want to replace it! But to my knowledge they are very expensive. If removing the sensor, disconnect the wires going to it. On some cars you can spray it without taking it from hose. But after cleaning it. Wait about 5 minutes until it dries. Hope this helps, Good-Day!

99 kia sephia keeps throwing code PO172 full system to rich bank one. How do I correct the problem? Changed mass flow air sensor changed O2 sensor, fuel filter, and air filter! What else? Thanks

For me, it turned out to be vacuum leak. I searched and searched to no avail, then I found the air leak... It was the seal for the idle air control valve. Turns out, it was cracked in a spot. So, I removed the valve and the seal, used a thin layer of gasket maker, reinstalled, and now it runs perfect. No more codes either!

2001 kia optima hesitates on acceleration gets better when warm, but still does it, has 2.4 engine

3 possible problems your mass are flow meter/senso could be going bad but not bad enough to register a fault, the same for your idle air valve and also your throttle position sensor. all 3 of these are on your throttle body .
with the engine running tap the side of the mass air flow with the back of a screw driver, if the engine sputers mass air flow needs can try cleaning it with some mass air flow cleaner if you cant find that at your auto parts store get some electrical parts wash. your idle air valve needs to be cleaned or replaced there hard to get off. your throttle position sensor , you need to know the setting ,if the auto parts store cant give you aprint out of instuctions best to let a kia dealership do it and pay out the ****.

My 1995 Kia Sephia accelerates and shuts down

check to make sure that your mass air flow sensor is working properly and your clean air supply to the throdle body is all connected and functioning. allong with the sensors connected to that. it sounds like your cars mas air flow sensor is giving an incorrect high reading to your your car thinks it is taking in more air than it is... the fuel injectors are trying to compensate for the high air flow but because that air flow does not exist the car stalls.

I have a 99 kia sephia. I've changed the spark plugs and wires my coil wire, alternator, and battery. It's gone from not even turning over to starting on it's own. I did the troubleshooting guide in my...

make sure that your clean air intake is all hooked up correctly this is a common problem because when the mass air flow sensor detects too much or too little air it will try to die or idle rocky also if it is correct look to make sure the air filter is clean if not then replace it.
