Changed Brakes. They Squeel. Brake Light on Dash keeps coming on

I changed my brakes about 1300 miles ago. I change then all the time. I have done this about 5 times already. However this time I changed the pads in front and I changed the hardware clips since the old ones were shot. Since the brake change the brakes squeel when I apply the brake petal. I thought it would file down and quite down and nothing. I tried break squeel silencer and nothing. They dont squeel until the rotors heat up and the brake light on the dash blinks on and off randomly. I had the car scanned for codes and nothing comes back with a brake any problem related to it.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I changed my front brake pads and I also changed the small hardware clips that hold them on about 1300 miles ago. Since the change they squeak and squeel when I apply the brake. I tried using brake squeel but it didnt work. any idea what this is? what can cause it?
Also the brake light comes on the dash on and off whenever it wants to but the brakes are new I dont understand why it comes on

This sounds frustrating.

so, here is the deal, there are several parts:

The screeching comes from smooth rotors, the only solution is to turn the rotors. Be sure to check replacement cost of quality rotors, often less costly. Rotors require thickness to dissipate heat, no disipate, and system deteriorates....

BUT the actual area that you need to focus on is the METAL part of your pads and the caliper. piston, edges, etc. This is where the noise comes from. Check everything, major clues are rust areas and freshly rubbed areas, clean and lube everything. Then with new pattern on the rotors, brakes broken in, meaning EASY STOPS for quite a while (thinking of the heat you generate, be easy moderate...)

IF you do the above steps, 98% will be squeaks will be handled. Need quality pads, not high life, fancy, just a name brand that is good quality. Ask the guys, there.

Part of the issue with the pads, by the way, is no asbestos. That stuff worked with the temprature thing. Causes cancer, though, so no can use. now we have some annoying issues like yours...

I have a 2003 4runner with 102400 miles. It has started to have a squeak somewhere. Sounds like it is on the drivers side. I changed the front brakes and rotors about 10000 miles ago. How does a person...

The rear brakes last a long time since 80% of braking is on the front wheels. This helps keep the car in a straight line in hard braking where the front wheel lock up. The rear wheels keep rolling to keep the car in a straight line much like a fin on a rocket keep its path straight through the air. If you have never changed the rear brakes then it is time to check it. The squeak is caused by a device mounted is such a way so that it touches the brake disk when the pad wears to a certain point. Letting you know it is time for a new pad.

I changed my rear brake shoes on my 2004 Chevy Colorado about 8 months ago i haven't had any issues with them. But lately when i start up my truck and drive off right when i step on the brakes to come to...

Assuming you have drums in the back, you don't get much in the way of squealing.
I would say the quality of the brake lining is not what you want.
Also you need a clean machined surface on the drums

I would possibly turn the drums, light skim cut,if never done since new
I would use 60 then and 80 grit sand paper on the linings
You need all brakes parts to move correctly,no rust anywhere
and things lubed

Check the parking cables for releasing

If you still have issues, then it is the brake material.

I would only do this work myself
I have never had a brake issues at all, in 47 years
All brake issues are done professionally. Not knocking them,
I just never have issues.

Brakes light are always coming on

I doubt your brake work is related to the lights...the brake mechanical system should not effect the electrical system. Look under the dash at the top of the brake pedal for the brake pedal switch - there maybe a way to adjust the switch so it is not so sensitive.

Wrench light is on and odometer shows negative mileage

The negative number means the car should have had it's oil changed that many miles ago. Oil life starts at 100% for new oil & counts down every 10%. At 15% the display will always show, which means it's near time to change the oil.

usersteve83, your oil may have been changed but the timer not reset. Reset the timer as shown...
1. Turn ignition to the "ON" position. (do not start engine)
2. Press SEL/RESET repeatedly until the oil life indicator is displayed.
3. Press & hold the SEL/RESET for about 10 seconds until it blinks then let go of the button.
4. Press the SEL/RESET again for about 5 seconds or until the oil life indicator resets to 100%.

Wrench = Maintenance Minder: Symbol letter & number...
Symbol A - Relace engine oil.
Symbol B - Replace engine oil & filter, Inspect front & rear brakes, Check parking brake adjustment, Visually inpest the tie rods, suspension components, driveshaft boots, brake hoses & line (including ABS), all fluid levels & their conditions, exhaust system, fuel lines & connections.
Symbol 1 - Rotate tires.
Symbol 2 - Replace air cleaner element (dusty conditions every 15K miles) & replace dust & pollen filter (behind glovebox) every 15K miles if mainly dusty or city driving.
Symbol 3 - Replace transmission fluid.
Symbol 4 - Replace spark plugs.
Symbol 5 - Replace engine coolant.

All above are taken from the 2006 Civic EX owner's manual.

2005 Acura tl brake replacement

The Brembos that come on Type S/Manual models wear fast. I've changed them at 20,000 miles. They are expensive also.

Non-Type S/Manual models I have seen go 80,000 miles. The biggest factor on brake wear is how the vehicle is driven.

At 50,000 miles I would have them inspected. Depending on where you go, make sure you get an accurate measurement of both pads (inboard and outboard). 2mm is the service limit and about that time the indicators start making noise, but not always. Most indepent shops are going to sell you brake pads at 4mm. That's another 10,000 miles at least you could have driven on them.

Never replace just the brake pads, resurface or replace the rotors. The uneven surfaces of the rotor will cause your new pads to wear incorrectly and possibly cause brake noise. Most aftermarket pads will cause a squeel.
