First remove wheel from car. Next take large hammer and drive whats left of lug out, you may need to use a punch if sheared off below hub hight. Now insert new lug stud in from back side of hub and use a open style lug nut (like those you see on old cars without nice wheels) and put on upside down, flat side towards hub. tighten up by hand then use socket to tighten down untill stud is pulled in all the way. In some cases you may need to use a few washes under nut to give enough room for shank on stud.

Smack whats left out with a hammer. Put the new ones in place then put a spacer on the tire side of the stud and tighten the lug nut. It will pull the stud into place.

One of the bolts holding the left rear tire on sheared off when I was rotating my tires. The parts are cheap but how do I replace the bolt?

Remove the tire, and the brake drum. With a suitable punch, and safety glasses on, drive the broken stud towards the center of the car. The stud will push away from you, thru the hub, and fall out. Get the new stud, and poke it thru the now existing hole on the hub. Place a flat washer over the stud, and thread a lug nut onto the stud, and tighten the lugnut until the stud is pulled all of the way into the hub. Remove the lug nut and the washer, and refite the drum and the wheel.

Driving down road and front wheel cam off. all lugs sheared off. quite a rush. it had been making a little noise just before. had not removed wheel latly. what do i need to do. new rotor and spindle? is...

The front wheel bearing is an assy. That has the new studs on it. You probably want to change the rotor while it is off and the pads. Also have a good look at you drive axle, if the boots are broken odds are its bad
What caused the wheel to come off? Did it lock up? Have a look at the brake caliper and make sure it isnt hanging up. Lee

Broken lug stud on rear wheel.

It appears from the excellent picture that the stud has to be spun to line up the half moons at the rear of the stud.Use two thin nuts locked together so you can spin the remaining stud to line up with reliefs in back of the retainer.
