recheck the wiring to the alternator, did you replace the alternator with a new one or used one ? also look in the fuse box in the engine compartment near the battery for an alternator relay. it may be failing.

Have your BCM (body control module ) checked or scaned, also see if there is a loose conection in the instrumant cluster.

My battery gauge goes out and my check gauges light comes on and battery doesnt charge in my 2002 dodge ram 1500 slt with 5.9 motor

with the engine running use a volt meter to check battery voltage with the head lights on, should be around 14 volts on a 12 volt system, if 12 volts or less the regulator or alternator is at fault . if around 14 volts there is a drain or short, the battery could also be faulty.

Check gauges light on, not charging, battery dead, unable to keep started after charging.

It sounds like a bad alternator. To verify, pull alternator off and have any good parts store bench test it. Most will do this for free.

1999 dodge durango wont start

Remove and clean both battery terminals, then reinstall making sure they are both tight. Also check the battery voltage with a voltmeter (it should read 12 volts minimum) or better yet take it to get it tested. The battery may need to be replaced.
