Question about 2004 Audi A4

1 Answer

I have an Audi A4 3.0. My car was running fine, until one day I had to jump my battery because of a shortage. My car was having trouble starting after that. I replaced the Crank positon sensor, and it was necessary, but now my car wont start. The ignition works, but no fuel or spark is happening. I checked my scanner and it shows a code I can not find. Its 18405, any idea or knowledge of what is going on?

Hi it sounds like you burn out the control module no car with a control module should not jump start nor remove the battery cable while the engine is on

I have a 2002 chevy cavalier. Battery is 2yo. Car will take a jump. Does not make any clicking noises, and lights, horn, radio work. Car would not start day 1,got jump ran fine, day 2 needed jump again, ran...

Weak connection between battery post and cable. Since the jumper cables bypass this, by clipping on the cable ends, the car will start with a jump. Takes less current to start a warm car than a cold one, hence it starts all day. I would look closely at the cable ends where they attach to the battery. Clean them until spotless with baking soda and water and terminal cleaner brush.

If this does not solve the problem, clean the chassis ground on the other end of the - battery cable and + cable where it connects to the starter.

Check your alternator output also. Battery should not be defective in 2 years.

Possible current drain when key is off. Put a voltmeter inline with the battery and check for draw. If you get more than a few millivolts something is on and drawing current. Glove box light maybe? Check by pulling fuses until you find the source of the draw.

How do I jump start a 2006 audi a6 4.2 quatro s line

place the red lead (positive terminal) from the jumper battery to the positive terminal of the audi battery. connect the negative lead from the jumper battery to the engine of the audi ( select a metal part that the clamp will fit on) Connecting to the negative terminal of the audi battery runs the risk of a power surge that may damage the ECM of the audi. If jumping from another vehicle run the jumper engine at around 2000rpms before trying to start the audi

1999 toyota four runner wont start. why

you may have a battery even though its been possible that there is a bad cell in the battery causing the problem. jump starting it to get it to run tells me this maybe what`s happening as when jump starting it may burn the bridge in the cell that is causing a short within the battery. when it`s running have the charging system check at a repair shop, as some parts stores don`t know how to properly check things(read between what they see and symptoms) and take test results at face value.

Car stalls when i press the gas when starting rough idle

Make sure it's charging ok.
Jump starting can cause trouble.
If you don't have a way to check the voltage ,put jumper cables
on it and see if it runs better.

My 2001 audi seems to start up fine and but after

have your alternator tested it sounds like your battery is pushing out out the power to your engine which causes the battery to drain. if you can start the car again pull the negative battery cable if the car dies after you remove the cable then your alternator is shot.

Try changing the fuel filter, first. If that does not work try replacing the pump. Also make sure you run 91 or higher octane.

Audi 1996 A6 wagon - battery drains if car not used for 4-5 days

unhook the battery completely and see if it will start after a couple of days. if it does you probably have a wire stripped and grounded out. all you need to do is install a power disconect key in the car, and you wont have any more problems.

Persistent 'Battery / Alternator' Fault

Alternators are expensive parts, especially at dealerships. I'm inclined to agree with you, they should have got it right the first time. No shortage of tools with them, but in fairness to them, intermittent faults are the hardest to detect.
They might come back and say you need a new battery, although it does seem odd that a little testing the first time might have caught that.
Those are the two main items in the start circuit you are having trouble with. Well, the battery, the alternator, the starter and the ignition switch, those four items are the main parts of the start circuit. But with a good battery and an alternator to keep the battery charged up, it will crank over every time. Ideally, that means it will start and run.
