Question about 2007 Subaru Legacy 2.5i SE Sedan

1 Answer

Trunk problem I have the exact same problem with my 2007 Legacy sedan. Every once in a while, the lock fails to catch when closing. No squeaking. LOVE the car, but the plastic trunk latch is cheap, and occasionally has to be "unstuck" to close the trunk.

Rust builds up on the handle on the outside. A few small drops of oil usually will allow it to return to the proper position. Hope this helps and have a great day.

Trunk volvo S80 2007 won't open

It's weird. I have a S60 ; the key hole is vertical (look up when looking from the bumper up to the truck) above the license plate. It's sort of hidden so you cannot see it if you are looking at the truck from the front. The truck can also be opened with your key fob.

How do I replace/repair the trunk lock mechanism? It seems to be permanently tripped and won't close anymore.

try applying wd40 lubricant to the locking mechanism on trunk. with straight screw driver flip the locking switch back, you may have to try this more than once to get lock freed up. but it should flip back with your help. try this before changing the whole lock assembly.

How do you adjust a trunk latch on a 03 Ford Focus Sedan?. The lock mechanism does not engage all the way in the lock. The catch has 3 bolts which can be moved for adjustment.

loosen all 3 bolts, then do them up so that they are pinch tight then push door to close as hard as you can, open door and tighten bolts, close door again to ensure no rattles/leaks and that door locks.keep adjusting till you get it right...

Trunk lid will not close - either electronically

Once a close fails, the latch may be now in the closed position, preventing a second try.
So release it first.
You should see the latch open up, so that it can accept the locking pin once again.
Then try closing it again.
If you have pounded on it, it may be hard to get it to release now, so you may have to pry on it with a screwdriver.

I had exact same problem, but what I found out was a three step solution to the problem.
1) The trunk lock above the trunk lid tself - sometimes looses coiling retention for the lock to work properly, which in effect does not properly lock wrap around the pull down electronic unit located in the body of the car/trunk that catches and pull the trunk lid down SOLUTION: check and make sure lock is works properly. you cab check by opening trunk and locking it with remote key, then pry the lock with a screw driver to see if it unlocks or stays locked

2) The motor catching unit in the body of the car/trunk that catches the lid and draws it down can be off balance (sitting too low to catch the lock (upper trunk lid with lock) to pull it down and stay locked. Have a mechanic - Audi preferrably, check the positon and allignment to adjust it, so it can catch trunk lid and lock to stay locked. HOPE THIS HELPS!
