Do a compression check. If the pressure, psi, in all the cylinders is within 10 psi of each other you have a blown head gasket or cracked block. If it is good then you need to check you breaks to make sure that one of them has not locked up. this can sometimes happen with the emergency brake. If it idles good and in park you can run it up to 2500 or 3000 rpm then you most likely have a locked wheel, brake or transmission problem.

You mentioned a possible intake issue that was mentioned by the dealer. There are a whole slue of sensors and devices on the intake and exhaust. Several of these could cause the issue even though the engine is fuel injected there ism contrary to many, an actual choking device on the air intake. If this sticks it will restrict the air flow and is located on the large semi hard plastic hose that goes from the airfilter to the intake manifold providing air. If the air flow is restricted it will certainly cause acceleration problems but If you can rev the engine up to the 2500 to 3000 rpm range in park it is unlikely the problem. You can, and I don't recommend running the engine very long without it, remove this section of pipe and do a short test drive to see if that solves the problem. If it does then you have located teh issue but not neccessarily the cause. This airflow device is vacum activated in most cases and a vacum leak could cause it to fault out.

I have a 2000 Cadillac Deville and I am having engine problems. The engine shakes a lot when I come to a stop. Also when I let go of the gas it still keeps accelerating. And sometimes it when I put it into...

The acceleration problem could be very dangerous as you may know. There could be several reasons for this, and to post any fix would be haphazard and irresponsible on my behalf so I will not post a potential fix/solution. It needs to be checked immediately by an expert, again this is very very dangerous do not drive the car if the accelerator sticks.

The shaking, has the car been tuned up? Plugs, wires, etc...is there a check engine light ? Start there.

If the engine is NOT running correctly, it is very possible that the torque converter slip speed could cause a hard bump when you put it into gear, again, this goes back to the shaking issue/engine performance.

GET THE "keeps accelerating after I let go of the gas" ISSUE FIXED BEFORE YOU DRIVE THE CAR. Again get it fixed by an expert. This is not something that can be solved or diagnosed without actually looking at it....

It sounds like you might need to replace your motor mounts, or get a tier allignement done. The allignment you cannot do yourself but the motor mounts you can this requires you to place a jack under you engine and undoing the motor mounts then replace them and take away jack.

Hi there. I can solve this dangerous problem you are having. You would loose acceleration at lights and intersections, the engine will shake and revs can go crazy. The issue is the MAF (mass air flow) sensor. It was recalled in 2001 as a safety problem as people died driving this model of sonata. If you connect your comp up to a diagnostic machine you will find its the MAF the problem is a problem that is hard to ctah on a diagnostic machine though as it comes and goes. You will need to replace the MAF ASAP as you can die from this fault and hyundai will not care due to the age of this car.
