Question about 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser

3 Answers

My 2004 PT cruiser is on its second serpentine belt tensioner pulley. The dealer and parts houses only sell the "tensioner/pulley as an assembly. I only need the pulley. Do you know where I can buy just the pulley? Also, while replacing the last pulley I noticed what appears to be a broken engine mount. It is about 1 1/2 feet long, sits below the accessory pulleys and is made out of aluminum with a rubber insert in the foward end (the rubber insert is broken) Is this common? Thank you for time.

I'm wondering why your going through tensioner pulleys so fast. Sounds like you may have the belts too tight. Unfortuantely I believe that pulley is actually pressed on and will break if you try to remove it but you might be able to find one at a junk yard. As far as the bushing being cracked, if it is a bushing it is common for them th appear cracked over time but you should replace worn parts.

You probably can obtain "just" the pulley from Autozone or any larger known autoparts retailer. According to the engine mount I've not heard anything in particular pointing to the PT Cruiser. Although, it is not an uncommon fault in general.

If you are on your second tensioner/pulley you have an alignment problem with your belt. I don't know if that is a broken engine mount you saw but it could be your problem with the belt. And no you have to buy the whole part.

My sepantine belt keeps sliding off and brand new tensioner what could be the problem

check pulley alignment as any pulley that is out of alignment can cause this, maybe when you changed the timing belt you left out a spacer for one of the serpentine belt pulleys. also make sure the belt is on all the pulleys correctly.

How to change serpentine belt on rav4 2004 model

You'll need to buy a tensioner release tool to do the job. Any auto parts store sells them. Use the tool to release the tension by moving the pulley enough to get the belt off . Route the new belt around all the pulleys on the engine according to the diagram sticker under the hood.once you're ready to put tension on the new belt, move the pulley again and put the belt under the pulley. Release the tool and you're done.

Looking for a diagrahn of a 2001 pt cruiser

The tensioner will be down lower and it will have a large metal roller wheel attached to it that is pushing against the timing belt to take the slack out of the timing belt, and you should be able to see it if the timing cover is removed, here is a picture of what you are looking for, and let me know if you still can not find it, or you require further assistance .5658e28.jpg
