It should not need anything to hold it in place. If it is popping up the tranny is building to much preasure.

Can i change the transmission fluid? if so, where, how, and how much fluid?

This is for auto trans fluid change only....

1Rise the front end of the car and pull E-brake. (Please use a car stand to hold car up )

2.Remove trans drain plug let fluid drain out into a oil pan.

4. Remove the dipstick (yellow loop) from the transmission located on top and in the back of trans. You might have use a flashlight to see it. Dipstick is hard to see if this is the fist time you're looking for it.
5. use a funnel and add 3.1qt of ATF fluids.(auto trans fluids only)
6. Insert the dipstick into the transmission and you're done.
7.Go racing :)

Automatic trans shudder on take off on a 2000 Honda Civic

The first check is your transmission fluid- The dipstick is located (or should be) just behind your motor. Refill it through the dipstick to the full level. Also, you can change the filter located inside the transmission pan. Taking this off, however, will drain ALL of the fluid from the transmission.

Transmisson dip stick is rotted removal instuctions of dipstick and find a replacment

you should be able to find a replacement dipstick at any local auto salvage yard. or you can get a new one at an auto parts store but will be more expensive. it should have a bracket attached to it that bolts to the back of the cylinder head where the dipstick runs behind the motor. remove the bolt(s) from the cylinder head and carefully twist the dipstick up out of the transmission. if it is severely rotted be careful not to break it off in the transmission. some models also have a small lock nut on the transmission at the bottom of the the stick tube. also make sure the new dipstick has a good O-ring on the bottom where it fits to the transmission.

Can;t locate auto transmission dipstick on 1985 honda civic

on passenger side of engine compartment you have the transmission, if you look down from above. there should be an inconspicuous round black rubber knob sticking up from a short tube kinda down low in the engine compartment, on the front-side of the transmission. definitely not as obvious as the oil stick

What kind of oil should be used for automatic transmission?

For a 2003 auto tranny - use T-IV.
The dipstick has the marking as well as the owner's manual.

This is not a Mercon or Dextron.
