The code could be your computer sensing a low voltage. It sounds like you have a draw somewhere in the car from something. Like a trunk light, glovebox light or something to that idea. Look at some of these, including under the hood if you have a light there also. To verify a draw you need to hook up a meter in siries through the battery negative cable. Start by looking around to see if it's something simple.

The radio goes off soon after the car goes dead someone give me a jump its fine until the next time?

your auto shutdown relay for the batt is bad after so long it switchs off when voltage gets too low so you have enough pwr to crank the car sound like it stuck it in the engine fuse box change that see what happens and check you door latch sensors those could be bad get a scanner that can test the body controll moduel and that will tell you if its open or closed or finds it pwr stick a test light in it and see if it goes off if so check for a bad radio pull fuse see what happens

2000 Ford Ranger is killing alternators immediately after install

the best way to test an alternator is with a load test-partstores dont do that--battery may still have a bad cell even tho it tested good--an alternator can burn up charging a completely dead batt--make sure batt reads at 12.6volts and no less-----if it reads say at 12.3 its only 50% charged!

I would get another opinion on the alternator. There are tests that I am sure that autozone did not and cannot run. One is a load test, This would indicate if the battery is getting any electricity from the alternator under loadm diodes in the alternator could be failing. There is no way to adjust the RPM. IT should be around 800 on an automatic tranny in drive.

Battery dead. recharged, car started. drove 20 miles. parked 8 hrs. drove back home. after parking 15 minutes car wont start. Which is problem, alternator or battery?

Don't know.
You would need to have both components tested. It could be a dead cell in the battery. Or a bad connection. If the alternator were at fault it should discharge when the engine is running and slowly go dead.

Left the key on over nigth the battery was dead the next morning os charged it up and was except the battery light kepts coming on then go's out after a few miles

Your battery may still be weak. Make sure it is fully charged. Also, this could be a sign that your alternator is going bad. A dead alternator will drain a battery real quick. Here is a simple way to test. Start your car and take the hot side battery terminal off of the battery, the red side. When you take it off, if it dies instantly, your alternator is bad. If it stays running, you could have a bad battery. Autozone and other part stores can check your battery for free. This simple test will give you the answer you need. I hope this helps you. Best of luck my friend.

I have changed my battery 3 times and it keeps going dead

Did they test the output only, 13.5 to 14v if it was all that was tested there are two other possibilitys that the alternator needs testing for Voltage regulation which will fry a battery (over charge and cells collapse)or the diodes have failed which will flatten a battery overnight.

Jeep hard to start then wont idle

Batteries are only good for about 5 years, any older and you risk a dead one in the middle of winter. First make sure your battery cables are tight and you do not have any corrosion (white residue) on them. Next, you should run to autozone and have a free check of your battery and alternator. If you are electronically inclined you can do this procedure to check your battery on your own.

Hook multimeter to battery, it should ready >12 VDC--tests battery condition
Crank car, it should read >13.5--tests alternator charging capability

Turn car off, wearing rubber gloves/eye protection undo battery vent caps (should be 2 of them, depending on the battery). Have baking soda and clean water handy if you get acid on you. Just rub with baking soda and rinse with water.

With vent caps off, you will see 6 holes on the top of the battery. Each hole represents a series circuit, much like putting 2 AA batteries in a remote control to make the voltage 3 volts. Each cell is a multiple 2 volts. Place negative lead of multimeter on negative of battery, Next place positive lead inside battery cell until you are touching the acid. Going in sequence, each cell should give you a reading of 2,4,6,8,10,12 volts. If one cell doesn't give you a multiple of 2 volts, it is a "dead" cell and the battery will need to be replaced.

Also be advised that the alternator is not designed to charge a dead battery, only keep a good battery charged. If you keep charging your bad battery, you alternator will be the next to go. This is why they seem to go in pairs.
