If the switch has been repaced then u most likely really have an oil pressure problem, you will neded to hook up a test mechanical oil pressure guage and verify the actual pressure, I suspect you will end up replacing the oil pump, the inlet screen may be clogged with dirt or the pump is worn out or has a stuck pressure regualtor valve.

Changed distributor in 2001 nissan xterra now oil light flickers

Sounds like you may have accidentally pulled the wire loose on the oil pressure switch. Just check it to see if it's tight and not broken or stretched..Always try easiest fix first..

What is wrong when low oil pressure light comes on?

I can think of several things to check. low on oil, oil thinned out ,change oil, oil filter blocked , oil filter relief valve stuck open, oil pressure switch faulty. Best to remove oil pressure switch and fit a oil pressure gauge to get a true reading. If OK just replace the switch.

Replace oil pressure switch on a 2006 nissan xterra

It's located by oil filter, may have to remove filter to remove switch, may need a stubby(short) wrench to remove, may be able to turn tiresout to get to,it's a tight fit.Remove electrical connector, then get wrench and remove, then take to Autozone and match up with new one, here it is. My oil pressure light is on?

The ticking noise is can be a sign of low oil pressure or worn out oil/wrong oil grade. Since you just changed your oil I would say that it is not the oil. The decrease in ticking comes from the new thicker oil. If you have an oil pressure gage, locate the oil pressure switch or any other oil passage to the engine and connect the gage to the passage and check the oil pressure and compare that to the mfg specs.. The oil pressure will most likely be something between 30-60 when the engine revs up a little but do check the mfg specs from a manual or call the dealer for the info.. If it has very little or no oil pressure it could cause extensive engine damage or complete engine failure. It is best to check the pressure or have it checked before you continue to drive the vehicle.

My 04 XTerra's oil light keeps coming on but there is oil in the car....not overheating, driving okay??? I am perplexed.

1st you need to do an oil pressure test. If it reads between 20psi-60psi, then it's Ok and you have a bad oil pressure switch. If it's below the above specs then you have an internal engine problem - IE: bad oil pump, bad bearing, etc...

The oil light keep telling me that i need oil when i already did a oil change what could it be

If you definitely got to change the oil after the oil change counter reset and then went out and had to be either a faulty oil pressure sensor or oil pressure failure.

Check engine soon light is on

take your vehicle to your locale autozone, they do free diagnostics tests. They'll tell you what codes your vehicle is sending out(Plus alot of information about that code, what needs replacing)
Good luck
