Question about Ford Taurus
You could tie the two wires together once you cut them from the switch.BUT i would not recommend this because the switch is a safety feature .Besides the switch is not that expensive :)

The emergency shut-off, fuel reset, or inertia switch - all referring to the same thing - is typically located in the back right corner of the vehicle.
Sedan: Open trunk lid, look to right side near fuel filler port, pull back the trunk liner to expose the switch.
Wagon: Open hatch, look to right side near fuel filler port, open access panel.
Recessed into the top of the switch is a red button. If tripped, then push down until it resets, or clicks back into the on position.
