Loosen bolts on bottom of trans pan, pull one corner lower than others, drain fluid into large flat container. Remove gasket and filter. replace both. replace pan cover careful to keep gasket in position. check owner manual for amount of fluid to fill and type of trans fluid. DO NOT OVERFILL- EVEN 2 OUNCES OVER CAN RUIN SEALS

Raise your hehicle and place two jack stands.
have a large oil recovery pan and a 10 mm socket,an extension and a wratchet.
start takinng the bolts of and lea one on the fron and one on the back for last.
slowly remove the back one and let the oil puor into the pan then when the oil slows down remove the front one.
clean and scfape the old silicone gasket and let it drip untill the drip is minimum.
its a good idea to also replace the filter.
you have to get some good silicone gasket making product.
clean the oil pan very good and let it dry.
make a 3/8 inch bead around the perimeter of the oil pan let it stand for about 5min and then screw it back wait another 5 min before tightening the bolts let it dry good before adding the transmission fluid start the engine and add the rest untill is full, check for leaks and make a note of the milage.

Good Evening, I have a dumb question. have you cleared any current or history codes in the transmission? They will default with codes in the system. Also make note on what they are. If any and we can go from there, and yes tcm would be the next place to go but more info is best as far as codes and such.

Clutch fluid

ther is a reservoir near the brake master cylinder on right side of engine

that is where your clutch fluid is

on the transmission usually in front there is a clutch slave with a bleeder. open bleeder with somebody pumping the clutch pedal a few time the open bleeder to flush liquid, close and repeat until
liquid in reservoir is clear

LIQUID FOR CLUTCH SYSTEM IS BRAKE FLUID DOT 3 OR 4

2001 Dodge Stratus Transmission Problem

COULD BE LOSS OF ALL TRASMISSION FLUID, BROKEN HOSE, BLOWN PUMP,BURNT TRANSMISSION RINGS( HOW DID THE TRANNY OIL SMELL?) BURNT TRANNY FLUID OR A COMBINATION OF ANY OF THE ABOVE. IF IT JUST QUIT, YOU PROBABLY HAVE A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT WILL REQUIRE A REBUILD OR A SALVAGE TRANSMISSION FROM A LOCAL WRECKING YARD. THE LATTER BEING THE CHEAPEST AND AT TIMES THE BETTER DEAL ALL AROUND, TIME WISE AND MONEY. VERSUS A REBUILD THAT REQUIRES NEW PARTS, BANDS, PUMP, SEALS AND ON AND ON PLUS HOURS OF LABOR TO FIX EQUALS ONE BIG BIG BILL!BEING A 2001 A TRANNY FROM A WRECKING YARD ISN'T GOING TO HAVE THAT MANY MILES ON IT EITHER SO YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND SOME PRETTY DECENT ONES. THAT'S THE ROUTE I'D GO, BUT YOU'RE FREE TO CHOOSE EITHER CHOICE. I DON'T ENDORSE OR CONDEMN EITHER ONE, JUST POINT OUT THE GOOG AND THE WEAK IN EACH FOR YOU TO DECIDE! GOOD LUCK!
