Question about 1999 Lincoln Navigator

1 Answer

I have a 1999 Lincoln Navigator. It has recently started blowing hot air only thru the vents - even when the ac is on. It seems to only have one mode - hot air (and I mean HOT). Pushing any of the other buttons on the console makes no difference at all, with the exception of the up or down of the air volume. I have replaced the unit but the new one did the same thing. Need some advice please and thank you!! Rene'

Does the vehicle have any water or condensation from the tail pipe? or does it seem to use more fuel now or run rough? If you answered yes to either of these take the vehicle in and have a compression check done to see if you have high in one or more cylinders. The last time I had this problem the block was cracked and the pressure from the cylinder was forcing hot water into the heater system even though it was set to off. This can be a major issue.

Testimonial: "Yes, it is running rough too but the roughness started weeks after the heat issue. I will take it in to have a compression check and pray... Thanks!!!"

1999 Lincoln Navigator stops blowing hot air

Since your blower is working and it is a heat issue, thats where we'll start,First thing is have you checked the coolant level in the radiator when engine is cold, make sure it is filled to top, next verify you have coolant in reserve ,Start your van and get it up to normal operation temperature,If your heat gauge on the dash works correctly it should be 190 degrees,Now lift the hood and locate the two heater hoses going into the heater assembly at the fire wall,Both hoses should be hot to hold on to,if both are hot and no heat inside your problem will be the blend air door in heater assembly.
if neither hose is that hot you need to replace the thermostat in the engine to get it up to 195 degrees.
if one hose is hot and one is luke warm then the heater core is blocked and to blame. hope this helps you.

Air stops blowing through the vents when accelerating

u have a loss of vacuum to the ac mode control switch, this switch applies vacuum to diff vacuum motors to move air to diff outlets, dash, floor, defrost etc. either the vacuum line or vacuum resivior at the engine is leaking or the mode control is leaking vacuum.

I have the air on and when I press the gas the air stops blowing thru the front vents

If it changes to the defrost, you have a vacuum loss somewhere. It may have a mode door going bad also where the acceleration of the vehicle causes it to swing and switch positions.

Having problems with my a/c on 99 lincoln navigator. At times a/c will blow cold air, as soon as I hit the the accelarator I hear a sound that resembles the closing of a vent and it immediately blows hot...

Typical ford Check on the firewall for all your rubber vacuum hoses where the heater hose goes into the firewall if one is broke as you accelerate the vacuum makes the heater switch open giving you heat

1999 Lincoln Navigator Heating Problem

if the heater core is getting hot then the problem is the air temp control blend door actuator, a common problem.
