Check the ground wire, also check the both battery post wires connectors making sure you getting good connection. I hate to say but, from my experiences sometime even brand new battery and starter fail, give this also a try, get a jump from someone that also have the same cranking amps battery and lets test your battery and the ground, hook the positive cable straight to the positive post to your battery and negative to the motor metal ground (DO NOT CONNECT TO NEGATIVE BATTERY POST) and try to crank the engine and see if that work, if not then take that starter back out and test the solenoid buy connecting using jumper cables and connect it straight to battery using a jumper cable by connecting to the starter to see if your solenoid working by quick contact touch using the positive clip acting as a switch. keep in mind your solenoid will have a positive and negative grounding post and make sure you hook the cable to the right post. if the solenoid engage with the starter turning then is not your starter, it will be you ground connection not getting good contact with the starter. also check your igniton switch, its wear out over time and cheap to replace.

2005 aveo starter will not engage flywheel took starter out, it works out of car

If it's out try to turn the gear one way then the other,if it spins easily in either direction ,the "bendix" spring is broken, the starter will hit the flywheel but disengage right away.
If it doesn't hit the ring gear at all, look at the teeth on the flywheel, also when you put it back in be sure to tighten the bolts evenly,

I HAVE A 97 F250 7.3 DIESEL. THE STARTER IS NEW BUT WHEN I TRY TO START IT IT SOUNDS LIKE THE STARTER IS KICKING IN AND TURNING BUT THE MOTOR IS NOT TURNING. WOULD THE GLOWPLUG RELAY CAUSE THIS?

Don't think so. It sounds like the starter is mis-aligned and not engaging the flywheel. When the starter spins, the gear on the end is supposed to move out and engage the flywheel. Sometimes the springs are bad or there is too much friction on the spiral shaft, but if this is a new starter, more than likely it is mis-aligned.

I have a 97 f250 ld with starting issues .. the battery is good all fuses are good the starter checked good at autozone and both siliniods are engaging .... but when all back together the starter will not...

sounds like the starter gear is not mating up to the flywheel correctly, causing it to bind up. go back to autozone, and get some starter bolt shims, and install them.that should cure the problem.

The starter on my 86 bronco II flywheel issue

The solenoid on your starter is probably no good. Just get a new starter. Theres no starter that will "grab the teeth better", theres just new ones that work and old ones that **** out

1994 Ford Escort- Went out to start the engine- The starter would turn but wouldn't engage the flywheel-160,000 miles on it, so I figured it was the bendix- I replaced the whole thing-all new starter...

If you turned the flywheel with a screwdriver and the bendix engaged the flywheel, then it sounds like it could be the flywheel. There may be "teeth" missing on the flywheel, causing the bendix not to grab onto the flywheel. Have the flywheel checked. If there are "teeth" missing, then replace the flywheel. I experienced the same problem with my Nissan.

My starter teeth all broke off any reasons

Drive may have been engaged when engine running, like as in accidentally forgetting it was already running, or drive was sticky & stayed engaged after start up. If this is first time it's happened, I wouldn't panic, but observe flywheel/ring gear teeth when you change starter. Check for good alignment when installing new one, just to be sure. Any odd noises from starter prior to this happening?

1999 Chevy Blazer 4WD wont start

Sounds like the bendix is stuck in the starter. When this happens, the starter energizes and turns, but the gear does not kick out to make contact with the flywheel. Have someone tap on the starter while cranking the engine.
