Actually, the fuel pump is accessible through a panel in the trunk underneath the spare tire. just lift the carpeting and take out the spare, i also found these instructions online;

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
Relieve the fuel system pressure.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Drain the fuel tank with a hand held siFID n until the level is less than 1⁄4 full.
Remove or disconnect the following:
Spare tire and jack
Floor trunk liner by pulling it back
Fuel sender access cover
Fuel sender assembly quick connect fittings
Fuel sender assembly electrical connector
WARNING
When the lock-ring is removed from the fuel sender, the sender assembly will spring up. Downward pressure should be kept on the assembly and slowly released to ensure the sender assembly does not get damaged.

Lock-ring from the fuel sender using tool J-39765 or a spanner wrench
Slowly release the spring pressure on the sender.
CAUTION
The reservoir bucket on the fuel sender assembly will be full of fuel when it is removed from the tank. Be sure to have a catch pan nearby to drain the sender into.

Remove or disconnect the following:
Sender assembly from the tank
NOTE: It will have to be tilted slightly about half way out to be sure the fuel level float clears the side of the tank.

To install:

Install or connect the following:
New O-ring on top of the tank
Sender assembly into the tank
Retainer on top of the fuel tank, compress the sender until the retainer can be engaged; then, lock it in place with tool J-39765
Quick connect fittings to the fuel sender assembly
Sender assembly electrical connector
Negative battery cable
Pressurize the fuel system and verify no leaks.
Install or connect the following:
Fuel sender access panel
Trunk liner
Spare tire, jack and spare tire cover
Refill the fuel tank.

The fuel pump is located inside the gas tank. to replace it, you sill need to put the rear end of the car on jack stands, and remove the hardware holding the gas tank to the bottom of the car. you may also have to remove the filler hose too... if there is still a lot of gas in the tank, it will help to have a friend there to assist with lowering and raising the tank. they can get a little heavy, and you will be working in an awkward position. also be careful not to tear or break any wires or hoses going to the tank. once you lower it enough to see the top of the tank, there will be a round insert in it. usually these are bolted in. but after you remove whatever is securing it, the it should lift right out, and that assembly that comes out under it is your fuel pump. sometimes you get this whole assembly, or you may be able to buy the pump alone. if thats the case, you will need to do just a little bit of dis assembly to get the actual pump off. its pretty easy though, because the pump is small. its going to be the part with a net around the bottom of it. to reinstall, just reverse these steps and you should be in good shape. if you have some mechanical experience then its not an extremely hard job. its actually pretty easy. but since your working in an awkward position it can be a bit physically demanding. well worth the money saved over paying a shops labor rates though. if you have anymore questions feel free to repost them to thsi thread and ill help you out the best that I can. good luck though...

The electric fuel pump is located in the fuel tank.

You may want to do other service before replacing the fuel pump, such as:

1. Replace the fuel filter.
2. Blow-out the fuel lines.
3. Check the Fuel pump relay switch
4. Check/reset the fuel safety cut-off valve/switch located in the trunk.
4A. The safety cut-off switch will turn off fuel in a collision; sometimes for no reason.
5. Check the pump: tyrn off radio and other noise makers, close windows, turn ignition ON, but don't crank. If you hear the fuel pump "buzz" from the rear of the car, the pump is probably ok.

Hope this helps, and the pump is ok...

Drop the fuel tank it is located inside, if you are careful you can get retaining ring out without any special tools.

I suggest checking the autozone.com website and register the car. It's free and will give you access to an online repair manual for the car. Pretty handy if you're going to do maintenance on the vehicle. The steps for replacing the fuel pump should be available there. Hope this helped and best wishes.

It's your air pump running, not your fuel pump. Probably have a small air leak in hoses to shocks.

Pump noise in rear of car keeps running / Gas pump or load leveller / seems longer run time olately in cold weather ( 1999 olds aurora)

you might have a leak in the rear suspension load leveler. check connections with soapy water. locate where sound is coming from. fuel pump in tank is a slight hum and not that noticable, but the air comp for load leveler is. Also spray around rubber boots on shocks, also check load leveler switch on axle to frame for broken or loose lever control.

Cannot unlock doors on 1999 olds aurora with key or key fob

I would first check out the fuse (if there is one listed). If that is good, replace the relay. These are both located in the fuse bank in the engine bay. Fuse and relay discriptions should be on the underside of the cover.

Under the intake manifold. You need to remove the fuel rails and manifold to get to it. Not too difficult (about 2 hours)

Where is the fuse located to relieve fuel pressure on a 99 olds aurora

there is no fuse to relieve pressure, just turning the key off does the same thing, if you want to relieve the press just depress the test port valve in the fuel injector supply rail on the top of the engine.
