Question about 2002 GMC Envoy

Brakes locking and burning brake cylinders

I have a 2002 GMC Envoy. I noticed that the brakes would not release once I let go of the brake pedal. Both front brake cylinders had to get replaced along with the brakes since they were overheated but the same problem occured. The master cylinder was also replaced and the brake system flushed. After all this the same problem occurs. The brakes seem like they keep on getting stuck, it seems like I am steeping on the brakes all the time. Can this be caused by a sensor?

The master cylinder was also replaced but the problem persists. I have disconnected the wiring that goes to the master clyinder and the vehicle seems to be working better. Is this some sort of sensor that needs to be replaced?

Brake pedal is hard when vehicle is not running, but is soft when the 2005GMC Envoy is running.changed the brakes and rotors?

This sounds like a vacuum or hydrolic issue. If The pedal is spongy soft while its running it indicates air in the brake line, or faulty master cylinder, or faulty brake booster. A faulty master cylinder would get hard after a few pumps of the pedal. Since the pedal is hard when it is shut down, it makes me lean toward the brake booster.

Front brakes on 2005 GMC canyon are locked up what could it be

hello,
If the frt brakes are locked up then it could be any of the following, master cylinder is bad, frt brake lines are at fault the flexible rubber part that goes to the calipers, or the calipers themselves could be frozen and are not able to release when you let off the brake pedal.

Just replaced the brakes on my 2002 gmc envoy the abs and brake lights are on. What could it be?

did you add brake fluid and did you check to see how the brake pedal feels when you apply the brakes with the car on? you will have to bleed the air out of the brake lines if the brake pedal goes to the floor when you apply the brakes.

Soft brake pedal on 94 gmc sierra

in late model GM and Ford cars with quick take-up master cylinders, the quick take-up valve takes about 15 seconds to reseat after the brake pedal has been depressed, so you should wait at least 20 seconds before you press the pedal while bleeding. If the pedal is pumped too quickly while manually bleeding the system, you may never get the pedal to firm up. On a side note, did you check the level in the master cylinder after every 2 or 3 bleedin procedures? you could have been pumping air right back in the lines if the reservoir runs dry during the bleeding process.

The brakes on all 4 wheels lock up after a short amount of driving. The pedal gets hard and wont release until the car sits for a while or until physically releasing the pressure by cracking the break lines...

CHECK THE BRAKE BOOSTER MAY BE FAULTY
LETING BRAKES SLIGHTLY APPLIED IT HAPPEN
ON ONE OF MY PREVIOUS CAR
TO DIAG PRESS TO GET BRAKES TO LOCK UP TIGHT THEN PARTIALLY UNBOLT

Ford f250 diesel . front brakes come on when driving, don't have to use brakes. changed all calipers and hoses. if i bleed the calipers then they will start to release, sometime you can hear the brake...

sounds like a bad master cylinder, next time brakes are locking up , open bleeder screw and see if that releases brake at that wheel if it does then replace master cylinder, good luck.

Brake problem

Switch on brake pedal stuck due to dust etc. Many new cars have a safety feature that allow the brake-lights to come on if the brake lever is depressed, even when the ignition is switched off.
If you can get to the switch, a good cleaning with methylated spirits and a small brush should allow it to move freely again. Good luck.
